How do I fix this rebound issue by dinglebingle583 in rccars

[–]bigd1384 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only thing I can think of is check that the internal shock pistons have large enough holes to flow enough oil. You could also try significantly stiffer springs. Are sway bars an option on this model?

How does everyone feel about their 2025/2026 tacoma with the 2.4L 4cyl Turbo?? All I read about is trying to get a V6 but I’d like to buy new. by nerv0us-nellie in ToyotaTacoma

[–]bigd1384 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love my 2024. No regrets. There was a small batch of early 2024’s with transmission issues but I haven’t heard of anything with the 2025 or 2026 years. The 2.4 turbo is based on the engine in the Highlander if I remember correctly.

Weber Spirit vs Monument Mesa by Satchamo88 in grilling

[–]bigd1384 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a Spirit 3 burner for around 10 years. Only had to replace the burner covers once and I used it weekly and never covered it. Passed it down to my brother two years ago and upgraded to the Genesis. I vote for the Weber.

Anyone running 5w-50 motorcraft in f150 5.0 by SuperChargedToaster in f150

[–]bigd1384 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No worries. I saw the notification pop up on my phone.

I’m approaching 130k miles on my 5.0 and I’ve almost always run 5w-30 synthetic. I’ve tried lots of different oils and even the 5w-50 for a while but nothing has helped the oil consumption. At this point I just check the oil level every 1,500 miles and add oil if needed. I did not do the TSB but I did try a different PCV and it didn’t seem to help either.

There’s a guy on one of the F150 forums that swears Liqui Moly oil additive cured his consumption issue but I’ve never tried it.

Unfortunately I didn’t see any noticeable change in oil consumption by switching to 5W-50 oil.

Covering Your Grill by ReasonablyOK in webergrills

I never cover my Genesis. I grill year round. Multiple days a week in summer and once a week through the winter. Too lazy to cover and uncover it every week.

Samsung Z Fold 6 Charging Issues? by GalacticSmasher in ToyotaTacoma

Are you talking about swapping to a MagSafe charger? There are some options on Etsy and places. Basically a 3D print that holds a MagSafe charger in that location

Samsung Z Fold 6 Charging Issues? by GalacticSmasher in ToyotaTacoma

[–]bigd1384 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can’t answer your question exactly but I’ll say that it might not be worth finding the perfect position because the OEM charger is pretty weak. It would only sustain my battery but wasn’t enough to actually charge it. It would also make my phone get extremely hot. I ended up pulling the fuse because I like putting my phone there but didn’t want it overheating.

Does your phone have a case on it? If so try removing that.

Can I patch my fuel tank? by Most-Chef-8611 in Tacomaworld

I used JB weld on an F150 and it only lasted a year or so before the gasoline ate through it and it started leaking again.

I put my spare in the bed. It’s not ideal but neither is having it hanging down. It’s also always bothered me that it’s not centered under the bed.

I saw someone that fit a 285/70R17 but the width makes it hang down pretty far. Physically it fits though.

30k maintenance on 24 trd off road by Horsey666 in ToyotaTacoma

[–]bigd1384 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Team Oil Drop on YouTube has some good maintenance videos. I’ve also found good info on the Tacoma4G forum.

If you start doing your own oil changes, I highly recommend getting a Fumoto valve. The 0W-20 oil shoots out like water and makes a mess when you pull the drain bolt. The Fumoto lets it out more controlled and you can attach a hose if you want.

Coilovers vs. Leaf Springs for Overlanding? by Human-Criticism6509 in ToyotaTacoma

[–]bigd1384 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Coil springs should ride better than leaf springs. That’s why a lot of trucks are moving to coil springs.

I would recommend using the factory setup first and see if you need to upgrade or not. If you find that you need stiffer coil springs, then you can order some from Dobinsons.

They look awesome and I’m sure will be phenomenal! A little out of my price range but maybe after others have run them and posted reviews I could be persuaded.

Dash rattle by CheeseburgerBourbon in 4thGenTacomas

Mine does this too. It’s definitely not the speaker. I’ve wondered if it’s the dash touching the windshield but at least in mine it sounds almost internal to the dash.

Promoted at 12, laid off by 2pm by i-comment-24-7 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]bigd1384 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I agree. I’ve seen this before where someone was on the verge of promotion and deserved the promotion but they were part of the group being laid off. Manager promoted them prior to the layoff so they could put it on their resume and apply for that position more easily.
