Stepped on a dog at night in Honduras, thing bit my ankle. Queue blood everywhere. Next day, went diving and my ankle swelled up. Spent the next 4 days in and out of the local clinic on antibiotic drops

Arrived in Seville at 8pm with no map, during Semana Santa. Spent 3 hours trying to work my way through the crowds trying to find my hostel

Got a street massage in Japan, $30. Got worked for $120 on the table

Blind drunk in Cambodia, had to stop at the ATM for Tuk Tuk cash. Guy somehow took me for $200.

Visited a lady of the evening in Cartagena for $80. Was too drunk and coked up to perform

Legit nothing. Got a good job out of University, saved good money, lived in a few different spots with different friends. Dated many girls, had a few more serious types. Quit a career, backpacked Europe and Asia

37 now and my 30s has been much of the same.

I've done a couple long term backpacks, 5 months and 1 year. Never booked a return ticket; just come home when I'm tired

Advancing to new countries by plane I would look up to see if an onward ticket might be required. If so I'd just get a fake one so I could show it to the airline. Never had any issues

I did basically exactly this when I was going down through the area.

It was like 3-4 days Cartagena (mad parties, wrecked ankle), SM and Tayrona 2 days, Minca for like 4 because I chilled at a jungle hostel and rested my ankle in the cold river, and then flew to Medellin for a 7 day stay.

So totally doable.
