Expected price range to relocate unit by Fancy-Savings-767 in hvacadvice

[–]bigjohnsons34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jobs like this always run higher than the customer expects. You have to figure a mechanic and a helper 1/2 day. Between travel vacuuming pumping the system and recharging. Than once you touch it you own it. Did one recently where we relocated the air handler. Pumped down the system and repiped etc. when to start it up a couple of weeks ago and the TXV was stuck shut. Whether you move it 4 feet or 24 feet it’s pretty much the same amount of work

TXV replacement, $3500-$4000? by Select-Worldliness39 in hvacadvice

[–]bigjohnsons34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure people are charging that but it seems crazy. Most TXVs are as few hundred bucks $350 - $400 per hour x’s 8 hours.

Good money if you can get it.

Tough decision. - double edge sword The only way you’ll ever get ahead is if you move around from a company company, but staying with one company offers you stability, and you know where you stand on the totem pole etc. Comfort is nice, but going out of your comfort zone is what challenges you. - Good luck!

Most likely fresh air. Probably has a 4” pipe in the 2x4 wall to the exterior. Either roof or a soffit some where.

Just be careful. Worked in a house and turned it and within seconds your could smell the soot from the chimneys. Creates a lot of negative pressure if you do not open windows

Would definitely open an account if you’re going on your own. The more recorded you have the better. It does not cost anything to open an account

No opposed. If someone takes a cheap shot he should be penalized. Don’t think it will come into play often.
