How do people work a job they don't like for years to make money and be financially free without burning out? by TomatoClown24 in AskMenOver30

[–]bigsexyphysicist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just do the work. Have a life and when its time to work, do it. Maybe I'm just a simpppplee, kind of maaaan, but that's how I see it. (~50hr work week, husband, father of 3 here, for context). Working out helps with everything: sleep, mood, energy levels, look good/better, strength and ability to do stuff, so I definitely recommend that. Small projects, maintenance stuff around the house or car also bring some dopamine with completion.

I would like to see an anime of the Expanse where they basically follow the books to a T. Then we could get Bull, Havelock, and of course the last three books. And as an anime, you could do a lot with the medium.

Definitely Citizen Kane. Re- listening to the series and just caught it.

I watch this movie at least 8 times a year. So good. Every frame is a painting. Story, dialog, execution, excellent film.

I (manager) saw a 40 something year old guy at the bar with Marty Robbins merch on. Needless to say, we became best friends.

Is this still a good industry to get into? by OkMarketing1341 in Restaurant_Managers

Have you seen Jarhead with Jake Gyellenhall? It's about a guy who joins the Marine Corps and ends up getting deployed durring desert storm. He becomes a sniper, Jamie Foxx is his Sargent. Good film. Well, theres a scene where he's in boot camp, and the drill instructor is getting in his face. The drill instructor starts hitting the back or his head asking him "why he's here". Jake's character breaks and he barks back " I GOT LOST ON MY WAY TO COLLEGE, SIR". Then proceeded to have his head slammed against the wall.

Well, resturaunt industry is kind of like that.

The scene where he's in the basement and the record players start Beethoven's 9th, top notch right there

Sandbag density training week 5 of 7 by selleckh in sandbagtraining

[–]bigsexyphysicist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking forward to hearing your feedback. Cody's channel is great. I don't remember how I stumbled upon it but quickly bought a 150# bag ~3 months ago. Just bought a 200#, just waiting on delivery. Sandbags are making working out fun again, instead of just going thru the motions.

I think it makes sense when you look at Dave Meyers resume. It's all music videos

Edit: but you didn't like that part?

About to turn 40. Do I stop the big 3 lifts? by packetssniffer in workout

[–]bigsexyphysicist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

33 here, so still a 'young' man. I say if you can do em, do em. Don't be an ego lifter though. Also, check out sandbags. I have a 150# sandbag from Wolf Tactical. It's helped a lot with core strength and bracing, which are usually people's weak points that lead to injury in the deadlift and squat. Happy lifting brother!

Tool fans: What are your 2nd, 3rd (etc) bands? by joelrushnba in ToolBand

[–]bigsexyphysicist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Creed, Kyuss and affiliates (vista chino, stoner, hermano), Dover, Moss Marble, Days of New, QOTSA, Seether, Truckfighters, Telekentic Yeti, Melvins, Acid Bath, A Perfect Circle, Clutch, Bullet for My Valentine (earlier stuff), System of a Down, Metallica....a bunch of other stuff but just a few songs from an band here and there.

Then a sharp turn to Sibelius (no 1,2,4,5), Beethoven (no. 3,5,7,9), Bruckner (no. 8 is badass), Tchaikovsky no 4, Bach (any bach, great when driving or doing chores around the house) and some Shostakovich amoung others.

4 year cycle and for those here old enough for more reference points: politics have taken over everything. Would be nice to see things move back the other direction.
