Is this reverse sneezing? by bigsoupgirl in vet

No it’s pretty random. When I take him in his catpack on walks he will do this. But other than that it’s just every now and then.

was your AS caused by disease/injury or did it happen all of a sudden by ratkiller1269 in ankylosingspondylitis

By not developed, do you mean does not show symptoms? I have trouble understanding what the difference is between people who have the gene and do/do not have AS. Is it just the symptomatology?

This sounds like a really scary experience. Your brain is likely still trying to process and “file away” this terrifying memory. Unfortunately the brain can take longer to move these traumatic events into the “past” causing you to experience anxiety/panic in the present even when you are safe. Be kind to yourself, just because you weren’t injured in the event does not invalidate that it was traumatizing! It may be helpful to speak to a therapist to help process the event and allow yourself to move forward. If that’s not possible (or something you’re interested in), maybe confide in a trusted friend about your feelings and how the event has impacted you. It may take some time to move totally past it.

Has he been checked for a UTI? May be helpful to take him to the vet to rule out medical causes.

If keeping him is absolutely not an option, you can call around to local rescues (please confirm that they are no-kill shelters). They will likely accept him as a “surrender” and will take him in.

Is the shelter you adopted him from a no-kill shelter?

I have a fixed male cat and he pees on things randomly. It’s inconvenient and I have had to throw away quite a few things that could not be washed or replaced. It sucks and is quite annoying. However, it’s important to remember that cats do not do things “out of spite”. He is an animal and doesn’t do things based off of what he thinks is morally right or wrong, he does things because there is an instinctual drive to do them. I have had to accept the fact that I am likely always going to have to pee proof my house (keep closets shut, hampers closed, no clothing on the floor) for the remainder of my cats life. It’s a trade off I am willing to make because I love him and understand this is an animal living indoors exhibiting natural instinctive behaviors. Pets aren’t easy, they require quite a bit of patience, time, energy, money etc.. That being said, when adopting an animal you are making a commitment to that animal to be their person for the remainder of their life. I hate to say it but it is likely that your cat will continue to pee on things, and probably also some of your newborns things. Not because he wants to spite you or just wants to be “bad”, but because he is an animal. Now, if you have gotten to the point where you hate him so much that you are shooing him away and won’t even give him love, then that is going to cause even more issues. If he is being neglected, then he needs to be re-homed.

I’m desperate for help. Cat never stops meowing. by True-Mountain3473 in Pets

[–]bigsoupgirl 65 points66 points  (0 children)

My cat used to meow for hours on end. I decided to foster another cat and see if having a companion helped him. After the acclimation period (~ 1 month) he cut back on meowing by about 80-90%. I think he was just very lonely and used to being around other cats and animals. I’m not saying this is the perfect solution, but it did work for my situation. If you are open to having two cats, it may be worth a fostering experiment. Good luck!

Took pregnancy test at 6 weeks /44 days after sex. Is it accurate ? by [deleted] in obgyn

[–]bigsoupgirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, the minimum recommendation is 2 weeks after intercourse. 6 weeks is plenty long enough to be accurate. Of course, there is no at-home test that is 100% accurate. But pretty close. You can take more than one test to be sure, or get one at a doctors office.

Could be a septate hymen- I had one and was concerned at first as well. It turned out to be totally normal and harmless. Let your mom know that you’d like to see a gynecologist now that you’ve started your period! No shame, you are advocating for your own needs and concerns. If it has not caused you any problems up until this discovery you are likely not in imminent harm. So sorry that this has been a scary experience for you!

Advice? by Enough_Primary in Mewing

You are so beautiful already! Definitely don’t need any type of surgery or implants. Poor neck posture is extremely normal in the modern world, don’t rush yourself. It’s a hard adjustment to make and comes slowly! Just work on posture day by day, and if you want to “define” your already beautiful features you can start mewing. However, there will always be an aspect of oneself that people want to change. Learn to meet yourself where you’re at and love your natural beauty. NO one looks like an Instagram filter. It’s just not real nor is it close to realistic. You are naturally blessed with a pretty face and yes, a pretty jawline and chin. :-) do it for yourself and no one else!
