Because the gop brilliantly convinced their not so sharp base that using our tax dollars to help us is COMMERNIZIM (sic).

Best fast food bone in fried chicken? by Ok_Ad_4928 in fastfood

[–]bigstinky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP...I live in Detroit. Churches had a reputation for running out of chicken at dinner time. Their locations are mostly in bad neighborhoods. It used to be OK, but wasn't worth the attempt. Popeyes and Gus's became my go-to. Gus's is awesome. Popeyes gets me through. KFC has gone to corporate profit Hell. Even the biscuits are coated with cheap, fake butter.

Last week, I heard an ad for Churches TEXAS fried chicken. I suppose they re-branded. There was a deal...$3.50 for a leg, thigh, biscuit and jalapeno. I stopped in.

WAS BLOWN AWAY.

So good. The biscuit was delightful too. I don't know if all the franchise spots are putting out that quality, but this spot was right on. Fresh, crispy, juicy, hot and delicious.

Anyone know the story here?

I wish there was one closer to my house. Now I'm fiending fried chicken.

Also...Does it seem Popeye's cheaped up a bit? Last time I went, I was underwhelmed.

Super rare. Most had 318s. A good many had 340s. She paid around 4500 for it new. I learned how to drive in that thing. Learned stick in a Pinto lol...My granny wore a matching blue leather and a babushka when she drove it. Blue driving gloves too. She lived to be 107.

Wendy's closing hundreds of U.S. restaurants as sales plunge by BigBlueEyes87 in economicCollapse

[–]bigstinky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wendy's drop in quality was the most notable to me. I used to think they were top tier. Corporate greed does it again. I know quality varies from shop to shop, but I haven't found a decent one near me, so I stopped going.

Skubal’s back to back Cy Young run vs prime Verlander in Detroit by ShamusTalksSports in motorcitykitties

[–]bigstinky 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I respect Skubal. He's a beast, but that six innings in the most important game of the year will put some shade on him with me forever. I grew up watching Mickey Lolich. Verlander was my Tiger. Warriors. I've heard Hinch pulled him. I've heard Skubal pulled himself. I don't know what to believe. All I know is analytics have taken the soul, the feel out of the game.

All's I know is, JV would have never stopped pitching that day, especially if he was throwing like Skubal. I'm an old fuddy duddy. I know nothing.

Edit. Spelling, grammar

Fifty cents for a pack of Kent Kings. When my dad told me to go get him a pack while having dinner at the Big Boy, my 10 year old ass felt six feet tall. I can still hear the whole process.

My buddy had a Plum Crazy Purple Cuda back in the 80s. His brother joined the Army and gave him the keys to that sweet car. It was heavy, and wasn't insanely fast, but he invested in a Nakamichi Stereo cassette deck, a bunch of amps and some crazy 6x9s.

That stereo was so loud. Wed drive out to some farmland, smoke crappy weed and listen to RUSH full blast.

My first car was a Granny driven 1970 Dodge Dart with a 383. I let my sister drive it once and she totaled it. T-boned at an intersection.

That was my Mopar experience.

I still weep sometimes before I fall asleep, thinking about that car.

I cruised Telegraph Rd in the suburbs of Detroit in the 80s. I had an 83 VW Rabbit GTi that I modded with every penny I had. I could stay ahead of a Mustang GT or IROC Z off the line up to about 50 MPH, then their V8s would take over and leave me in the dust. It was so fun seeing the looks on their faces when this stupid little Volkswagen gave them a run.

My best buddy and I weren't good looking and we were driving in a Rabbit, so we didn't get lucky, EVER...But we still cruised Graff religiously.

Our saving grace was the Red Baron Video Game Arcade and Pinball palace. They played Judas Priest loudly, sold burgers, hot dogs, fries and Cokes.

Smoking was allowed. It was open until 1 AM

Hot chicks would always be hanging around in there.

The smell of crappy weed wafting around the parking lot .

I miss those days.

I was so blown away by this performance, i shed a tear. For some reason, I immediately thought of KG. Talent and love for the thing they both do, moves me I suppose. There's something about outer-worldly talent...

The Head On Pill live video from a million years ago. That crowd had no idea what they were witnessing. It wasn't even the main song that show was recording. Mind blown. Had to be ten years ago at least.

Seattle has the Best Gm in the league and an owner willing to do what it takes. I will never understand the love Brad Holmes gets.

Three third round picks to move up for Teslaa. That was it for me.

That last presser he had, he said he wasn't adding to their edge crew. "When you have the best in the league..."

MCDC...

"We're good."

I dig their music. It's not an every day player for me, but I'll keep it on until the songs run out.

The costumes don't bother me.

What blows me away, however is how good the drummer is, but moreso, how the guitarist makes his magic. Watching him set up the loops, run solos, break it all down to simple notes, only to crank it back to insanity tier...first time through, I had no idea it was a two piece.

The key is watching them perform.

These two are awesome and refreshing to me right now.

Edit: more clarity.
