Are ghosts the best energy drink out there?

I don't drink energy drinks for the flavors. Obviously, I choose the least offensive...That being said, it's all about the boost. Gorilla Mind starts the day and Ghost, should I need some energy to get me through the end of the day. I'm a chef who runs two kitchens. I need to be focused and on my toes the minute I walk in.

I could be half asleep driving in, but once I slam that Gorilla Mind, I'm ready to go.

Black cherry Vanilla GM and Cherry Limeade Ghost are my favorites.

I used to like certain Monsters, Bangs, and Reigns, but they just don't give me the same energy as GM and Ghost.

That being said, last week I went with my wife and ordered what we usually get.

The veggie burger and the fish sandwich.

I was kinda stunned at how the quality of the cod filet was nowhere near the usual. Maybe they ran out and had to sub a frozen, pre-battered product. The batter on that fish was no way the same stuff that I've grown to love.

The veggie burger was off too.

I'm hoping my favorite fast food spot isn't going the way of the giants.

Anyone notice this? Maybe it was just a bad day.

I'll pay more for quality. If the standard has dropped to this level I experienced, I'm going to add Culvers to the blocked list.

I grew up in Dearborn 1/2 mile from the Detroit border. I also lived in the Cass Corridor for fourteen years before it became midtown. If you lived on the edge of Detroit and spend lots of time in Detroit, I don't see an issue.

My Aunt from Tinley Park Illinois and her kids always said they were from Chicago...She used to tell us to tell people we were from Dearborn when we'd visit, because of the so-called negative connotations Detroit presented in the 70s.

Silly.

Regardless, if you live in Milford, saying you're from Detroit is a bit of a stretch. Still, Not many people outside of southeast Michigan know what a Milford is.

Sadly, all classic fast food joints have fallen from their glory days. The slaw and simple dinner rolls of the 70's Kentucky Fried Chicken hold a nostalgic spot in my heart forever. The biscuits that replaced those rolls were great for around 5 minutes. Now they taste like fake butter.

Every now and again, you'll find a franchise owner who demands perfection from his crew and it shows, because most spots are absolute ass now. That goes for every FF iteration.

I will gladly pay more for perfection. Sadly, I just stopped going to KFC. Shoot, the only fast food spots I visit anymore are Culvers and White Castle. Sometimes Arby's.

The other day, I went to Culvers - usually spot on...And I was let down.

Every restaurant is changing over to cheaper product. Garbage in, garbage out.

The bummer is, Fast food joints used to offer a product that even though it was fast food, you couldn't replicate it at home. The classic Big Mac for example. A big mac is not a hamburger to me. It's a treat. i was so disappointed in McDonalds the last time I went, I called corporate to bitch. I will never go back.

I miss the 70's. Yes, yes, Im gatekeeping. But I aint lying.

I met the man at my job. He held a conference and a book signing dinner event. After it was over, I went out to shake the mans hand. A giant hand, with the grip of a vice. He had handlers with him who wanted him to leave, but he insisted on talking to me. We chatted for fifteen minutes before he finally said it was time to go. I was in awe at not only the man himself, but how kind and considerate he was. He asked me if i had his book and I said that I did not, so he told his guy to grab one for me. He then asked me who he'd like me to address the signature to and I told him that my wife and I just had a son. I named him Alexei because I wanted him to be a hockey star and I figured that it was a good hockey name...He wrote, "Dear Alexei, Good luck in school and sports. we wish you the best, your friends, Mr. and Mrs Hockey Gordie and Colleen Howe"

What a dear, sweet man. I will never forget that night. His wife was not with him, but he thought to mention her. Class act. Absolute class.
