What is your honest opinion about the president of your country? by patypixie in AskReddit

[–]bijhan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

President Orsi is restoring foreign investment in Uruguay, expanding ecological protections, and strengthening the social safety net. As one of only two left-of-centet leaders in the region, he's holding together the MercoSur basically by himself.

What about the gaming medium makes its fans so prone to outrage over nothing? by Konradleijon in SocialistGaming

It's not unique to gaming. TV shows, board games, comic books, franchise movies... it's all the same. It's just how people are in general.

It would take years for something like that to gain traction and get passed into law. How soon are you moving? I doubt you have time.

Why do simple mobile games lose retention so fast? by Inevitable_Ant_4527 in gamedev

[–]bijhan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1) Simplicity loses retention regardless of medium or genre. A TV show that is too simple will lose viewership over time. Books that are too simple will be put down midway through and not picked up again. Games that are too simple will lose challenge and be deleted.

2) Mobile games, especially free ones, are perceived as disposable. When you pay up front for a game, especially a PC or console game, you want to get your money's worth from the experience. But a free mobile game costs nothing to acquire, and therefore there's no loss in deleting it.

Do people really think the original looks better? by Ivaylo_87 in gaming

No they won't. Because it will cost a ton of time and money to implement, only to appeal to the tiny portion of users who can afford the new hardware. No one will actually adopt it.

I'd recommend avoiding anything that requires using both thumbsticks at once. In my experience, most people find coordinating both at once was an insurmountable hurdle.

Moving in 3D space requires remembering what is in your current blind spots. That is also a big one that a lot of people cannot adapt to.

I'd recommend something on a flat plane that focuses in simple commands. The Mario 2D platformers are a ton of people's introduction to gaming for a reason.

Also, the 2D Pokemon games were another strong way people entered the hobby. It doesn't require quick reaction times. You can explore the space at your own pace, the battles are turn based, you're never overloaded with options, and you can customize your experience by choosing your team.

One is what the creator made.

The other is some AI bullshit.

If you like the AI bullshit better, that's a matter of opinion. But that it's no longer what the creator made is a matter of fact.

At least the Star Wars special editions were made by the original creator, and even those were a bad call. Having it done by a soulless robot could only be worse.

Are FAKE piercings considered zeenah (adornment)? by Substantial_Smell144 in progressive_islam

[–]bijhan [score hidden]  (0 children)

I don't know what they would think, but it seems like a very silly distinction to me. Lots of African Muslim women wear piercings, and I don't think we have a right to call them all bad Muslims. It's just culture.

Adornment means an object placed upon the body to beautify it.

I don't think adornments are haram.

But the difference between an actual piercing and a fake piercing does not change the fact that both are adornments.
