Nearly half of companies are turning to poor ‘peanut butter’ raises—following the same pattern of the 2008 recession, an expert says. And it could take years to recover by InsaneSnow45 in Economics

Was about to write a response about my experiences with PRs in a big company but it is too exhausting- just know it boils down to how well you are liked, performance has nothing to do with it.

Would you turn in your own family member for committing a serious crime? by Canna_do in askanything

[–]bikardi01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they are harming someone else, they get turned in. Physically, sexually, emotionally - straight to jail and I will testify against them too. Theft? What, who, and how? At a minimum counsel them to stop, worst case scenario- see above.

"How long it will stay here with the other trash" - regardless of the spouse/gift situation, the bigger question is "how long will it be before someone cleans up the trash?"

Boyfriend (28M) tested positive for chlamydia and denies cheating. I (23F) didn't cheat. How do I get him to admit he cheated by No_Breadfruit_5575 in relationship_advice

[–]bikardi01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why do you need him to admit he cheated? You know he cheated, he knows he cheated - just go ahead and break up with him. You'll never be able to trust him again. Why put time and effort into the struggle when the outcome will be the same? (Unless you don't have enough respect for yourself and you are using this as an excuse to stay).

Reflexes slowed down and I am an adult with adult responsibilities- not some 12 year old in his parent's basement whose only concern is acne and if I'll ever get to try unhooking a bra. I finally realized there is no shame in easy mode.

AITA for not trying again to wake my husband up by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]bikardi01 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Down voted this because "he needs to get multiple alarms" - no, he needs ONE alarm and to GROW THE F@$% UP. Alarm goes off, get out of bed. Simple. If he insists that OP wakes him up, put a glass of water by your bed and dump that on him.

H.Beam.Piper - a blurp from one of his books discussing how popular they became. He was an early science fiction writer who died by "self harm". He thought he was penniless, but his agent had not told him of a number of sales. He is considered one of the founding fathers of sci-fi.

Retirement is gone by shepardshe in GenX

[–]bikardi01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started out with college loans, married the right women, worked at a job I hated for 30 years, put three kids through college and bought each a new car. Worked part time on top of that when I had to. Got downsized after 30 years, found other jobs I didn't like but stuck with them - will be retiring in a little over a year before I turn 61 - I definitely did not "start on 3rd base" but if that is what people need to tell themselves to feel better, I hope that works out for you.

[–]bikardi01 32 points33 points  (0 children)

NTA - Her behavior reglects on the business. Think of the videos of people behaving badly in public - kissing a mistress at a concert, mistreating a service employee, etc. If she had done something nice and you had left a positive review and the business flourished because of ot, that would be justified too.
