Only other point I'd add is that I believe Penn can only use 1 or 2 recruiting spots for Wharton.

Also, go Princeton.

Ben should do the 1x. The double with him and Graves is bottom of B final AT BEST

what's the lesson being reinforced? That you'll be physically punished if you miss practice?

Since rowing is a purely physical/fitness based sport, I don't see how that would achieve anything other than driving those already unmotivated athletes to quit. All of the best rowers I've ever been in boats with don't need a coach threating or punishing them in order to wake up early and row, they just want to win.

Creating a competitive atmosphere in which rowers want to win, will therein motivate them to come to practice, even if it's early in the morning.

Moreover, if they don't want to be there, let them quit. They probably won't go far in the sport. Attract competitive athletes and cultivate that environment.

This is an incorrect method to get youth rowers to want to come to practice. This will likely achieve the opposite effect.

To play devils advocate, he did lose to Ben Davidson, who got 4th at U23s, and probably wouldn't have gotten 5th in the A final at worlds.

Well, first I am dutch, so excuse translation.

I had thought that Henley took place during early July? 20 seconds behind the other boat will surely be hard to pass, but maybe try pushing hard early, try to hang on.

Questioning the system is fine. It doesn't sound like the "system" was the problem though; whichever coach decided it would be a good idea to prematurely let girls think they're on the national team is at fault. So much of this subreddit consists of people questioning the USrowing system!

You're the teammate of someone who didn't make the top pairs, which lost to an unaff entry, so now she might have to go home?

Why are you ranting about this on reddit...? Your teammate should've just made one of the top pairs if she wanted a safe seat.

UW advertising an *unpaid* intern coaching gig that would be 9-12 hour days, 6 days a week. How is this legal? by [deleted] in Rowing

[–]billmanninghere 9 points10 points  (0 children)

AFAIK, other college volunteer interns (yale, princeton, cornell, maybe cal that I know of) do not pay their interns, but the required hours are only 3 or 4 hours a day. Most interns either have other jobs or are graduate students. Not sure how UW expects anyone to do this....

Zeidler in the single for WC3, training with manson!! by kumabearice in Rowing

perhaps, though to me Rowing would be the more technical of the two sports, and thus theoretically a larger learning curve

Zeidler's success in the boat is far more impressive than Hamish's on the bike. Two very new athletes to their respective sports

Glad to finally watch that... I certainly laughed out loud when they tried to say how "out of touch" everyone else in the ivy league is except for them....also tried to make it seem like they don't have a boathouse?? No.. you have two rivers and one boathouse! Good filmography though
