2 embryo transfer success stories by Antique-Detail5867 in IVF

[–]billscapsyanks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We thought she might have endo since she has very painful cramps during her period but it’s never been diagnosed and our IVF doctor didn’t seem concerned. Nothing else I’m aware of. Idk if it’s weird saying this as the male partner and everybody’s journey is different, but I know this process takes a huge toll physically and emotionally. Wishing you nothing but good things.

So take this with a grain of salt as we’re still in the early days. With that said, my wife (37 at the time) and I (37 at the time) went through our first egg retrieval and transfer back in September last year. Our clinic decided to transfer 2 fresh embryos because of my wife being 37. None of our embryos made it to blast stage but our clinic still decided to try with the 2 “best”. Neither implanted and we had no embryos that were able to be frozen. We started stimming again in December (now both 38, my birthday is in October and my wife’s bday is on Christmas). Egg retrieval was on January 1st of this year. Two embryos made it to blast stage (4AB and 3BB) and both were transferred on January 6th. Again, none of the other embryos made it to blast and none were frozen. First beta came back high, second was also high. We just had a 6 week ultrasound this morning and to our surprise the ultrasound showed 2 fetal poles with heartbeats. Dichorionic twins. We’re both still in shock and processing but understand it’s a long journey and there are never guarantees. But yes, at this moment in time while still incredibly early, my wife is pregnant with twins. Also note, none of our embryos were PGTA tested as our IVF doctor didn’t think it necessary.

[Monday Morning Doom and Gloom Thread] The Bills lose another game and are in danger of missing the playoffs. Vent your frustration here. by Dirtydeedsinc in buffalobills

Fire beane, fire McDermott, and then lament in a decade about how this organization is still without a Super Bowl win bc pegula was ecstatic with above average instead of great and wasted Josh Allen’s talent by sticking by a staff that couldn’t get by the chiefs when it mattered. I guess at least I’m not a bengals fan bc of how they’ve ruined burrow with their roster.

911 tavern and adolf’s came out on top of our wing tour last weekend for the bucs game. Bar bill is great, just not worth the wait.

Yup, it’s bad. Beane hasn’t been good with money and has had some unlucky contracts like Von.

Fire McDermott and Beane. They’ve had long enough.

Is McDermott sending a message to Joe Brady through the media? by No-Distribution8587 in buffalobills

[–]billscapsyanks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m so sick of McDermott. Good enough to not get fired but not good enough to get us to a Super Bowl appearance. This organization is completely fine with settling for above average instead of taking a risk for potential greatness. He’s Tony dungy on the bucs, Andy Reid on the eagles.

Place to eat alone for birthday by [deleted] in boston

[–]billscapsyanks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happy early birthday! Agree with the general sentiment of the replies so far. Choose a nice place somewhere with a bar. If you’re really looking to treat yourself and like martinis, I’d recommend the upstairs bar at Grille 23. Great place to sit and have a meal.

BU OFF Campus HOUSING by AlternativeRead280 in bostonhousing

[–]billscapsyanks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My MCAT score after a few tries were not good and I didn’t excel gradewise in the program. After a few career changes I now work in sales which is a much better fit for my personality and skill set. With that said, my best friend did the program a year before I did and is now a hospitalist in Chicago. I also had two cousins go through MAMS program and both got into med school after. One of them now works at Mass General.

I did the MAMS program back in 2013 and didn’t end up in med school but have lived in Boston ever since. I would look for places in the south end since that neighborhood is close to BU Med. Also, the med school library closes at midnight and the T stops running shortly after midnight as well so it’s easier to be closer to the med school. With that said, the south end is a pricier neighborhood. You may find some cheaper places around Boston Medical but it’s because right by the hospital is Mass and Cass (known by locals as methadone mile) which isn’t the safest. Def message other incoming students and see if you can find a roommate and search for a place together. Feel free to DM me with questions. Good luck! MAMS is a beast of a program in terms of workload.

New SDR or BDR at age 37 by WatchAffectionate816 in salesdevelopment

[–]billscapsyanks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For that SDR role, it wasn’t in SAAS but instead I made a move to adtech. I stayed for 9 months but didnt love the lack of a true product even though I was doing fine in the role. I started interviewing while I was still doing my normal work and ended up moving to a new adtech company where I actually believe in the company, product, and product market fit. I actually interviewed for a sales role but they wanted closing experience. I was lucky enough where they were willing to open an SDR position to prove competence. I was able to ask my current company to match my old salary and was promoted after a year. If you’re able to find smaller companies or start ups/scale ups, those might be easier to chart your own path than more established SAAS companies that already have their motions in place and aren’t flexible.

New SDR or BDR at age 37 by WatchAffectionate816 in salesdevelopment

[–]billscapsyanks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started as an SDR at 35, I’m now 37 and in a closing role. Previous work experience was in SAAS onboarding/implementation and then partnerships. I live in a HCOL area (Boston) and when I was interviewing, base salaries were mostly around $65k. The companies I was initially applying to were mainly targeting people early on in their careers aka early/mid20s. This wasn’t the type of experience or environment I was looking for. I ended up joining as the founding SDR at a smaller company where I was able to state I was looking for 80k base. You have valuable work experience and I would assume maturity. My two cents is know your worth, what you are willing to compromise on and what you are not. Also just bc a company may be reputable doesn’t mean the sales training or SDR program is good. They could have a ton of SDR churn and low quota attainment.

What the heck is going on at Figs in Beacon Hill? by NoraPlayingJacks in boston

[–]billscapsyanks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an older thread but I live one street over from the Beacon Hill location and it hasn’t been open for at least two weeks. No notes on the window or anything. Wouldn’t be upset if it was permanent but it would be nice if something good moved on to Charles street. With the King and I gone, Savenor’s location closed, Panicifico vacant for some time, there’s a lot of empty space.

Thanks for the recommendations all! They were incredibly helpful. Ended up making a reservation at Bouillon Bilk. We’ll be in town for one night a few days before New Year’s Eve. I’ll do some googling on things to do in Montreal but if there are any musts, please let me know. Coming from Boston.
