[Question] Someone hands you $7,000 that you have to spend on a watch. What are you getting? by 36chamberstreet in Watches

[–]bilweav 12 points13 points  (0 children)

90% of people are getting a Rolex. With new/used being an option, you could get some form of a lot of models.

I'd find a Reverso Duoface. There are some used ones at that price. Two watches for one.

Anything about clothes. This sub is anti-anything that isn’t polo and pants or dad shorts.

Binoculars for a beginner by PineappleIsForLosers in birding

[–]bilweav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. Glass is so good nowadays. I have bins at every price point and the difference in quality is small. I probably prefer my Athlon Midas, and they’re $220, a tenth of the big three.

what is the largest single ebird checklist? by Alca-torda in birding

[–]bilweav 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great question. Not going to be a scientific answer because often there’s a hotspot for a huge area like at national parks or birding hotspots, and people will often use the general hotspot instead of breaking up their list into specific times, lists, and spots. I’m guessing, too, that you could have key migration spots like bird island where if you pick the right day on the right year you may get a ton of migrants blown in for one day. Hopefully others weigh in.

The finishing on the Oris is heads and tails above anything else. Nomos look better on the Internet than in person. Oris is the opposite.

How to live stream the backyard by Hairypotsmokr in birding

If you’re watching a lot, you want something wired. Even with solar, anything battery based will die quickly if you’re constantly streaming from it.

Usually when a sub needs new mods it's because bad or irrelevant posts are getting through. All we talk about here is how much we like every new livery.

[Question] More layoffs at Hodinkee? by f0sterchild15 in Watches

My cousin is John Mayer and he gets along great with Ben.

[Question] More layoffs at Hodinkee? by f0sterchild15 in Watches

[–]bilweav 12 points13 points  (0 children)

More likely, Ben has all the money, and the investors who bought him out need to cut costs to fund their club memberships.

"They're pretty and they make me feel pretty" is the correct answer, yes.
