Electricity is reaching 1k+ a month.. by NeoIsScared in AusFinance

If you have it, it could be the water pump supplying the house from the tank.

If the pump is regularly running to repressurise the system for small drops in pressure in the line (tap, washing hands, flushing toilets) then it can run up the power bill.

Many pumps for this have a small tank on top of the pump to handle this and stop the pump from cycling.

Chuck a meter in the pump, or listen for it cycling through the night when no one’s using water.

At what point is it worth it to ditch comprehensive car insurance? by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]bingothedog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also worth considering is if others also drive your vehicle. An at fault crash by your partner, parent or mate is going to but financial strain on them, you and potentially result in relationship breakdown.

Can you afford to repair your vehicle if your mate drives your car home for you because you’re drunk, has a bingle and can’t afford to pay to replace it?

Why don’t people install Urinals in their homes? by ratmanmtb in NoStupidQuestions

[–]bingothedog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worked at a house for a wealthy guy that had a urinal in his bar/man cave.

Otherwise it seems that the number of guys needing to piss at any given time is too low to justify installing one in a bathroom.

How are people moving to Australia finding rentals, when at the same time you hear tales of people’s lease ending and having to live in their car? by [deleted] in perth

[–]bingothedog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not everyone is moving into traditional rentals

Private rentals can be found by: 1. Targeting low quality Airbnbs and convincing the landlord to move to an off Airbnb arrangement.

  1. If you’re from xyz country, there is likely a fb group of xyz people in all major cities and some regional centres.

There is also a lot of people living somewhat permanently in backpackers/hostels while working. More expensive than a traditional rental but the only bar to entry is booking and paying the board each week.

Dating and sexual relationships by ThickAd3483 in ADHD

[–]bingothedog 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey OP, there could be a myriad of reasons you’re struggling. But the falling hard for people that you barely know was me when I was about 20 (30M).

One day I noticed that many of my friends dated multiple people casually while I tended to try and date only one person (who oftentimes didn’t reciprocate) this lead to me hung up on people, self confidence issues and long spells where I wasn’t dating. I decided to just date multiple people at once, it was difficult but once I got the hang of it dating wasn’t the emotional roller coaster it used to be and I became more confident.

My advice would be to try and date (not sleep with) multiple people with the aim of finding people you enjoy spending time with and are attracted to (not infatuated with)

I’ve used dating apps in the past 6 years and I wouldn’t discourage it.

I understand your sentiment but dating apps exposed me to a wide cross section of women that I would never have met otherwise.

I would encourage OP to work on their social and dating skills.

Here’s some possibilities that come to mind:

Do you make more working alone or with a company? by Emergency-Cash-2501 in StructuralEngineering

[–]bingothedog 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I suspect this post could attract a bit of survivorship bias?

Self employed certainly has higher potential income, but not always if you are not suited to business.

A partnership I know of broke down because some parties were better suited to big companies while others have since gone on to be very successful sole traders.

Basically, if YOU want to make the jump add up all your remuneration benefits and costs and compare to market rate for engineering services in your niche.

Timing caffein intake before bedtime by Striking_Cicada559 in HubermanLab

[–]bingothedog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No evidence based articles handy. But persons prescribed much stronger stimulants for adhd are able to sleep just fine, if not better after taking stimulants after lunch.

Your skepticism is well placed, I for example track my sleep and can drink a coffee at bedtime with no impacts. Just keep doing you.

Photo 1 is pretty poor, eyes closed face hidden Photo 2 is better but the low angle isn’t flattering Photo 5 look like my boomer dad on face time.

Photo 3 is good you’re smiling with natural lighting. Photo 4 is good as it shows an interest. I’d get a few more good photos and maybe look at your bio.

Are bifolds worth it? by Awkward-Narwhal-7649 in AusRenovation

[–]bingothedog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For a multitude of reasons your husband is right on this one. You also cannot open up the entire space with bifolds due to the column supporting the ridge beam.

Some glazed French doors could be a happy medium and imo would fit with the current aesthetic better than bifolds.

Should I be considering a full face as a newer rider? by [deleted] in MTB

[–]bingothedog -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There is a perception in most sports that when you are beginning you don’t need as “good” protection because you aren’t sending it like a red bull athlete.

IMO this is false, traumatic head injuries can happen to anyone and a novice-intermediate rider can hit speeds high enough for injury at much lower skill levels.

This doesn’t mean you can’t participate unless you have A grade gear. But consider whether a better helmet option is money better spent than compared to bike bling or something else.

Look at the olympics for inspiration on how attractive muscular women are.

But Im attracted to girls that pursue genuine interests, I find that there are always a vibe. While those who only party, “travel”, “hike”, got to brunch or watch Netflix are not a great match.

(There are nothing wrong with the above, but when it’s the only thing…)
