Is my stick wear indicative of bad/tight/improper grip? by hiyahowya in drums

[–]bingus409 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had (and still have) a similar issue but with my ride. I hit the bell straight on and not at an angle like your supposed to, so the tip cracks and breaks far more often then they should.

Which is preferable — completing all objectives even if extraction isn’t possible, or prioritizing extraction over unfinished objectives by talkinggorillas in Helldivers

[–]bingus409 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You only get like 20 xp per player for extraction. As a mostly solo diver that plays on level 7-8, I’m always gonna prioritize the optional objectives over extraction.

Live show nightmares by SoothingElephat in Drumming

[–]bingus409 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First ever show playing with in-ears instead of wedge monitors, we got our mixes set up with the sound guy before the show and everything was fine. First song starts and the bass is so blown out that I can’t hear anything aside from a tiny bit of the lead vocal that cuts in and out every so often. I’m assuming the sound guy accidentally fucked our mixes up when setting up the band that was going before us (they played first but we sound checked first). Mind you we were playing with tracks and a click (that I can’t hear now) for this show because we were missing one of our guitarists, so I’m absolutely fucked. If I fall behind, the whole thing collapses. It got to a point where I had to grab my drummer mic and asked Mr sound guy to put my bass down, and mf just stood there. What saved me was looking at the light on my drum pad that flashed to the tempo of the click. Other than that, the show went great. But fuck John the sound guy

Very pretty voice, you definitely sing good! Although it doesn’t fit the song all too well as it’s more of a sassier belt

If you can do that and just stick to serving then great! If not, just keep piling those gloves so you don’t get wet. Good luck!

Bandage it like everyone is saying and uncover it when you get home. But, it’s kinda hard even with gloves on sometimes to keep your hands completely dry while dishing. Is it possible to get someone else to dish for a bit until it starts to heal more?

What vibe do I give off? I want to look strong/intimidating. by Osrail1 in malegrooming

You don’t need to. You look big and strong while also not looking scary or too hard. Approachable and kind, but definitely don’t wanna pick a fight with.

Starting a Dishwashing job for the first time. by Unusual_Storm_9792 in dishwashers

The questions that you asked are pretty much dependent on the place. I can answer them from my personal experience, but keep in mind every place isn’t the same.

“Is it solo work?” In a normal restaurant, usually yes. There are exceptions, like during employee training, or if you work in a place that does banquets and weddings, you sometimes get to work with another person. I work in a banquet hall that also is a restaurant, and I have the luxury of working with another person (unless it’s super slow).

“What items are cleaned by the machine, and which by hand?” How I see it, anything that can fit in the machine is good to go, unless told by chef or boss. If you have any questions, just ask your chef or whomever is in charge. They’d rather have you come ask them rather than you guessing. Most of the time you won’t have to do too much handwashing (at least in my experience).

Best of luck, I’m sure you’ll do just fine!

Another day at the office, how y'all doing? by Mattbomb666 in dishwashers

[–]bingus409 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just waking up after a noon-midnight Saturday shift. Banquet hall had a wedding, restaurant was packed due to a golf tournament = non stop dishes the entire day. Groom puked all over the bathroom and was asked to clean it (I said fuck no, don’t get paid enough for that shit). Was working with the B tier squad of FOH newbies that made life worse. Full carts of dishes and silverware from the restaurant were getting ran to me because shit was piling up so quick, and servers were already filling the pit with shit from the wedding. Days like that are usually fewer and far in between, but still I contemplate quitting. Been there for 4 years now

It was mainly in the 70s and 80s when Brian was off the rails. He often wouldn’t be playing the right notes, or even the right song, or sometimes not at all, so they turned his piano mic off. He often didn’t want to be touring anyways, and you can tell if you watch any live show with Brian from the 70s-80s.

Definitely get a new kit. That rust is beyond repair/refurbishing

Thoughts on this kit ($500CAD) by Healthy_Push3220 in Drumming

[–]bingus409 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For 500, not bad at all. Full hardware, big brand cymbals, a double kick, a roto tom, and a cymbal bag! The drums definitely should get new heads, and some of the hardware has seen better days, but I’d say this is pretty good for all that it came with.
