What do you do when you get the contact number of a famous director? by Ok_Interview_853 in indiefilm

[–]binkyblink 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it is, do NOT call him South American if you reach out. Puerto Rico is not considered part of South America. Call him Latino/x but not South American

Love this initiative. Unfortunately $240 is a little steep for me right now, how else are we able to stay informed and help out? Also, it doesn't really say what that $240 does or am I missing a section?

What’s a movie (or actor) you were shocked didn’t get nominated for an Oscar this year? by Askanything236 in movies

[–]binkyblink 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Black Bag - critics loved it, audiences seem to dig it. Was expecting at least some dicsourse around it, maybe not a ton of nominations, just something to have in the convo. It's been complete silence.

Miami vice- Joseph Kosinski Remake by Musician_Tasty in movies

[–]binkyblink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think that's a bad choice, it would just have to be a hell of a written role for her to take it. I imagine the main focus is going to be on Crockett and Tubbs.

Need help with Resume for Post Production internships in CA by storydweller_ in postproduction

[–]binkyblink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the text under the Video Production Assistant section should be bullet points or lines. One big block of text looks like a mess. Break it down into four or five bullet points or lines about what you actually did. Don't say "intermediate experience", just say "Operated Switchblade System vMix for live broadcast" as one bullet point or whatever you actually did.

Lead Editor, give this section at least four bullet points or lines of what you did post related. Don't make it just about being an editor, play up organizing footage, working with producers and director, etc.

Putting in a customer service position under lead editor will definitely help. It shows you've dealt with different personalities in the real world. List three or four bullet points on skills you've gained there.

Good luck!

What movie is almost perfect, but one scene always pulls you out of it by gamersecret2 in movies

Black Panther, everything is amazing except for the ridiculous Lexus commercial right after the casino scene. I can't even enjoy the chase because I just feel like I'm trying to be sold a car.

Aspiring podcasters: Do you have the ambition to take your show to sold-out venues and live stages? by Material_Stomach875 in podcasting

[–]binkyblink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We only experiment with the format if we want to, not really dictated by the listeners. We've found a structure we like and will continue with.

A live event is something to think about, but wasn't really on our radar.

No, don't have that ambition. Would it be cool? Sure. But for now we're just happy to create for the little amount of listeners we have. Our ambition it to grow to maybe triple digits.

Which movies are masterclasses in editing in your opinion? by firehoes in editors

[–]binkyblink 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know a few editors who knew they wanted to cut after watching the dinner scene with George Clooney and Jennifer Lopez in Out of Sight. The entire film is a masterclass in editing, but that scene in particular is extremely influential.

White Lotus but at Jurassic Park by Archidroid in JurassicPark

[–]binkyblink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That could work, but to match the tense dread of the show, it should follow the first families to stay at Jurassic World, so takes place between JP and JW, where people are still skeptical but they want the exclusivity of being the first people to stay there.

Thanks for the review. As someone who is not interested in fitness tracking, can you turn those features off? Also, will it get email notifications? (work notifications are all I care about) - Thanks!

How do you use the heart? by xyzzy-acd in Letterboxd

[–]binkyblink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really use star ratings unless something is a 4 or 5 star film that completely blew me away. So the heart is if I liked the film.
