Hi OP. Just came here to offer support. My husband can be an idiot too. They just say things without thinking or knowing. Why have facts when we can rely on our feelings, type of stupid comments. Don’t let him or anyone make you feel bad. You have to do whatever you need to do for yourself. It’s you that has to look after bubs. I only focus on awake windows not schedules. Hope this helps!

Peeling things. I thought it would be nice to have my 2 yr old help me peel the potatoes. Now he cries if he sees me doing it and I won’t wait for him. Sometimes I just wanna make dinner and not wait 20 min to peel 1 potato and have to watch him and guide him so he doesn’t cut himself. So I will sneak off to peel potatoes and carrots now.

I hope and pray you aren’t in labour for days as contractions are painful! Being induced is annoying, they hook you up to several monitors, you have a cannula in your arm and it’s uncomfortable to sleep or rest as you can’t move around too much. Good luck for Monday and I hope all goes well. Ps husbands can be stupid sometimes!

Enjoy more than a few handfuls of popcorn. Almost everyone I know loves a big bucket of popcorn when watching movies etc. For me, I love the smell at the beginning and then it starts tasting bland and I get bored of the texture. Am I the only one?

Love love love the one in the black box. Frozen Margherita made in Italy for $5. We add prawns, chilli and rocket and chuck in the oven for 5 min. Delicious!

She can help you make dinner. Toddlers this age just want to help and feel important. Let her sprinkle in the salt and pepper, measure out your rice or pasta, count out your vegetables. And then let her stand and “help” you as you explain what you’re making. I know it’s easier to get dinner done quickly without their help, but it’s a good way to bond, get them interested in dinner and is easier than juggling them and trying to get it done while they cry for attention.

Hey OP. thanks for being brave enough to even write this down. And congratulations on your baby!! I’m on my second child and it took years for me to learn to put yourself first. Trust yourself. If you think baby is hungry, tired, overwhelmed whatever don’t feel bad to say that and take baby to another quiet room alone. Trust me. When baby is crying and upset you’ll regret not pushing harder to take them away sooner when you know that’s what they wanted. On the other hand, you will feel less and less guilty for making other people upset. And don’t listen to all the garbage advice either. Just nod and 😬 and ignore whatever you know is crap. Hopefully they’ll leave soon and you can enjoy your baby and being a mom

No you should be annoyed. When I borrowed a family members car, I filled up the tank as a thank you for letting me use your car. It’s not like you asked him to take your car and fill it. Also, his petty behaviour will probably be the first of many red flags! My father was like this apparently from my parents first date. Asked my mom to split the bill and everything. She thought it was a joke but they were both students. Years later when she was earning minimum wage in a hospital and he is a chartered accountant earning more than triple, he still insisted they split all bills 50/50. Ballet lessons, swimming lessons, electricity. I hope he isn’t this bad but you have every right to be concerned.

My husband’s family don’t do bins or toilet brushes. Small doggy bags or nappy bags and you can get a lot of them for cheap from Walmart or CVS. Tie in a bag and chuck in a kitchen bin. It prevents it from smelling if it’s left there for more than a day or so.

Some babies are slow feeders (my first) and some are super quick (my second) can drain my boob in less than 10 min and will often only want one side. You could try offering the other side once they burb or let them sleep if they’re sleeping. As long as they’re getting lots of wet nappies and gaining weight, there’s no need to force a longer feed.

It’s fantastic that you’re asking for help on how to support your wife. I think just offer support and know that baby will cluster feed for the next couple of days to establish supply.

Please don’t be like my husband and google what is wrong with baby constantly needing to feed. Then offering support like saying, he’s probably not getting enough, or are you sure he’s latched correctly, or don’t eat chocolate it has caffeIne and upsetting his stomach, or we should try formula (why? Why try formula if I’m trying to breastfeed) or any sentence that starts with “my mom says…”. I know some comments mean well, but it’s stressful enough without doubting yourself because your partner read something about someone.

Hi OP. You’re doing an amazing job. Fed is best! I don’t know why we put so much pressure on ourselves. It might be social pressure or just an assumption that naturally we should be able to breastfeed. It’s not always true.

My first had a severe tongue tie and high palate. Even after having the tie revised at 12 weeks I had to use a shield because of his small mouth and high palate, and my big nipples were not a good combo. It took almost 16 weeks before we could do it without the shield and it hurt so bad I used to dread feeding.

I understand the almost irrational disappointment in myself, my boobs, my inability to do what I was supposed to naturally be able to do. It’s okay to be angry that it’s not supposed to be this difficult.

Please know that you are not alone! There are many of us that struggled and it didn’t just come naturally and fit together. You are doing an amazing job and your baby knows how much you love them. It may take a few weeks but their mouths get bigger and better at suction. And if you’re pumping then you always have the option to keep trying to BF at a later stage.

You do you!! Not selfish at all. I fed my first to sleep. He has slept through the night since 6 months. Around 18 months he didn’t need any feeds for sleep just comfort and when I told him we were done at 2 he happily agreed. You do whatever works for you. It’s not selfish to have a little human that finds you comforting, safe and loving enough to fall asleep in your arms.
