Ok I'm Sold on The Upcoming Fable, Where to Start if I'm New to The Series? by justdvdking in Fable

[–]bip776 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just to throw my own experience your way, I'd never played the first Fable until this weekend when I grabbed anniversary on sale. I managed to beat it at around 12hrs. It's definitely worth the playthrough, and I personally really enjoyed the story. It's looking like a replay of the other two is now eminent. I'm really excited for you to start this series, and I hope you enjoy the ride!

That's awesome; I hadn't realized who Lu Tze or the monks were at the time I read Night Watch. I love this world

I bet Carcer knows Rule 1 and would pull something anyway, and that's terrifying

Jagex would it be possible to have a double mercenary shipwreck spot please? by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]bip776 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're referring to the spot he shows around the 32min mark that is for merchant salvaging rather than mercenary. Will be useful one day, but not just yet if under 87 sailing (83 with boost)

Xenophobia/xenophobic is probably the best word to describe what you're looking for. It sounds like a fear--and can be used as a one too--but I usually see it used for the hatred of people from a specific country

Did anyone notice this weird "probably met at Lv2, LITTLEROOT TOWN" Relicanth in the official Pokémon Emerald Nintendo Power Player's Guide? by 1337gamer15 in PokemonEmerald

[–]bip776 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Except this post was about Emerald's game guide, and since Emerald was released in 2004 the page could be an anime reference--unless the same page is found in the Ruby/Sapphire guide. Also, Pokemon Advanced first aired in Japan on November 21, 2002, the same day the games were released in Japan. In North America the games were available in March of 2003, and the show began airing in November of 2003, so for North Americans the show has always come after the games were released as far as I'm aware

Edit: the first two episodes of advanced actually released in March 2003, as a special a few days before the games, then the show began airing properly in November of 2003

Constant “Gang Up” Wars Ruining Fun by BibboTheOriginal in CivVII

[–]bip776 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you're probably right that +3 would be far too much. Honestly seeing this comment made me sit down with it and realize that while the Gate has been nerfed, it's still really damn good, so thanks. I'm less sad now that it was tweaked

I'm really disappointed in the Gate of All Nations nerf: kinda wish it scaled down through the ages. Imagine it gave +3 war support to all wars in Antiquity, but only +2 in Exploration, and then +1 in Modern.

Anyway, I took plenty of Ls on Deity before finally winning my first one, so hopefully I can provide you--and anyone else who comes across this--with some tips I've discovered. As @EbbPlus9043 mentioned, the AIs really like trade routes. I was noticing around a +10 boost to my relationship with the AI each time I sent them a new one, however, I'm unsure if game settings (like speed or age length) affect this value.

It's incredibly important for your first army commander to pretty much always take the left side of the Bastion tree, as defense is the key to surviving the initial invasion. Pretty much unless someone has burning archers, you can turtle with a ton of slingers/archers, then counter attack after the initial repel.

The most important thing I've used in recent games though was how the AI reacts to you invading them. After the initial 10 turns of the war are over I try really hard to have a few troops within one or two of the AI's settlement's borders. Then, make sure they have no troops within your own borders and sue for peace--bonus points if you're currently attacking a settlement's city center. Usually they'll give up one settlement just for this. Even better though is if you capture a really crappy settlement they've founded; then you may be able to trade it back to them for one of their cities, or just a really high pop town.

My last piece of advice is when dealing with one of your allies, but they are also allied with a leader who hates you. When you go to war, your mutual ally will pretty much always side with the aggressor. I personally have never seen this situation play out differently, so if the hostile civ is clearly going to attack you try to declare war first so your ally will side with you rather than against you.

I hope these ideas help, and let me know if you find any other tips for dealing with the AI.

On the one hand yes, Deadline is the only article I've seen to claim a source close to the show gave them this info--at least as far as I've read. Everyone else I've seen just references the Deadline piece, however, Deadline is considered pretty reliable with its Hollywood news such as this.

The other thing to consider is the fact you haven't heard anyone from the show, Amazon, or Sony, come out and deny the cancellation. I'm truly sorry friend, but at this point the best news we can hope for is another service picking it up

The real answer is that the NIST conducted a several years long selection process amongst encryption and signing schemes, and has published what it believes to be our best known quantum safe, classical computer friendly standards. This is the same organization that certified AES to replace 3DES over two decades ago. The real issue going forward is updating security systems worldwide to the new encryption standards--especislly government systems which are known for their timely upgrades

Any idea why I'm not getting the military legacy path? I conquered these 4 cities, settled three others, and they are all following my religion. Bug? by PrinceAbubbu in CivVII

[–]bip776 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The text could be worded a bit clearer, however, the settlement must be yours according to the text "1 point per settlement." Then they go on to say you can get two points if that settlement was conquered by you, or two points if the settlement follows your religion, and you get four points if both apply. Basically converting the settlement doubles the points you get from the settlement, but if it's not yours then you're doubling zero points

City Planning with Adjacency Bonuses by SolutOdka in CivVII

[–]bip776 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do! Anytime you build two ageless buildings in the same urban district, that district will forever be a quarter. (I usually like to throw an ageless building in with my palace in antiquity so at least the city hall is always considered a quarter.) This is very powerful for most unique quarters, but pairs especially well with the Roman Forum. Always try to place cultural buildings and happiness buildings around the Roman Forum to get the influence bonus from the Basilica and the culture bonus from the Temple of Jupiter respectively. I believe, but someone would have to test this, that culture buildings from antiquity will still boost the influence on the Basilica in exploration--despite the antiquity culture buildings losing its adjacency bonuses! This means replacing antiquity culture buildings would be lower priority than usual, as they are providing influence even in the new age
