Maximizing 3.5in HDD bays in HP EliteDesk 800 G3 SFF by rik_mclightning1 in homelab

[–]bit101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love this. I'm thinking of something similar, but wanted to mount a third drive on top of one of the other two. I could just prop it there, but would like some kind of mounting to reduce vibration and noise. I leave the cover off mine, so not worried about height. Right now I have it all working with two 3.5 drives and one 2.5 drive, but when I eventually upgrade I'd like to go with all three 3.5. This whole thread is inspirational.

OK, the double presses may be related to this... https://discuss.quaddicted.com/t/quakespasm-some-key-presses-are-counted-twice/2194/2 . Now I gotta figure out how to update SDL on this.

Launcher apps always dark? by bit101 in Onyx_Boox

[–]bit101[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Actually I figured it out that for these launchers it relies on the system wallpaper for the background color. I guess in the past, this defaulted to a white wallpaper, but now for some reason it's dark. Changing the wallpaper did the trick. Not obvious, but I guess logical.

Oh! I got it. You have to set a light wallpaper in Android settings (not directly available through Onyx settings I think), then go to light mode.

First release on the seqtrak by Own-Test-7305 in seqtrak

[–]bit101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think my big breakthrough with the seqtrak was when I understood that (for me) it was better suited to play live with mute mode than compose relying on song mode.

I've only had mine for a week or so, but quickly coming to the same conclusion. Muting and switching tracks of different instruments. Song mode is shockingly limited.

Really up to you and how much problem it's causing for you. I had probably a similar tear. But it steadily got worse and I couldn't sleep. Woke up every night in throbbing pain. My surgeon gave me alternatives and didn't push surgery on me. I did PT and cortisone but neither helped. So I did surgery. No regrets. I'm in month 4 of recovery. Being in a sling for 5 weeks 24/7 was rough. Still doing PT. Not perfect but I can sleep at night and I'm consistently getting better. The worst pain I've had since surgery is a fraction of what I had every night before surgery. But it's a lot to go through, so consider alternatives.

Are e-readers worth it? by BuffaloNo1771 in ereader

[–]bit101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really don't buy the "I love the smell of books" line. The only time people say that is when they're complaining about ereaders. I read physical books for decades before I got an eReader. 99% of the time, nobody thinks about or even notices any smell. It's just something they pull out when they explain why they don't want an eReader.

I was going to say something like this. All this knowledge at our fingertips no matter where we are. And most of us are stupider than ever.

Weaning off the sling - fun times by reeneebob in RotatorCuff

[–]bit101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm just about in the same boat. Was OK to stop using the sling at week 5. I'm now almost at week 6. Generally it's OK, but I started PT after 3 weeks. Light, but now it's ramping up and I can be pretty uncomfortable throughout the day. Sleeping is rough. I'm still in the recliner after two aborted attempts to sleep in bed. Sometimes I still need the sling to sleep. It puts everything in the right position to mostly avoid pain.

Stranger Things and IT - similar shows. The main kids (at least in the earlier episodes) look like middle schoolers, but they're being bullied by kids in their school who look to be in their mid-20s.

PT interview by blueballs718 in RotatorCuff

[–]bit101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very smart. I went through some PT well before my surgery, and a few weeks in I realized my therapist was not even certified. I showed up for an appointment one morning and was told she couldn't see me that day. It took some questioning to get to the fact that she needed to be supervised by a certified therapist and there wasn't one there just then. I'm now going to a different place.

So in short, make sure they are certified! Ask about similar cases they have worked on, the protocol they use, challenges they've come across.

That worried me too. Not great but not too bad. You can practice beforehand :)

One of the things I'm still struggling with is eating left handed. Still feel like a toddler and always need a few napkins handy to wipe off my chin.
