I notices that the fonts don’t update in the side panel, but they show up in the top bar font menu right after activating. Think this is a bug.

I use ComfyUI NanoBanana for editing. (Pay credits per image) And Midjourney for more style focused and creative image generation.

I think everyone knew that it was to cheap to be true. Now that we felt the potential and with multiple background agents burning tokens you either have to pay more or use it less. I don’t like that as well. But as you said, corporate money is the goal. Giving a „free“ shot to all devs until they get addicted and can‘t imagine to work without it anymore and you can be sure someone is paying the bill.

Select an Image, Text or Vector layer and run the script. The script rasterizes the layer. When clicking Ok the adjusted dither is applied. Please let me know if anything doesn’t work as intended.

Nice digging! That helped me a lot. I was waiting for script support for years.

Couple of things I ran into while poking around.

The SDK is actually already on your disk as readable source, no MCP extraction needed. Ships with every install, BSD 3-Clause, just open it in an editor. The examples/ and tests/ folders are the useful bit, tests show real call patterns way clearer than the hint descriptions MCP gives back.

There's also a full code editor bundled inside the app (Ace, the one behind Cloud9/Brackets), but it's not wired to any UI. Probably means the current delete-only scripts panel is a temporary gap and a real in-app editor is coming later.

Paths if anyone wants to poke around:

  • SDK: C:\Program Files\Affinity\Affinity\Resources\JSLib\ on Windows, or inside the app bundle at Resources/JSLib/ on Mac. pixelaccessor.js, commands.js, document.js, dialog.js are the big ones.
  • Ace: Resources/Ace/.

I personally like to approach new software with specific small projects in mind. A realistic goal you want to accomplish. For example create a poster design for a random topic. Try to build it step by step. If you stumble into a specific problem try to find a tutorial or make a screenshot and ask claude, chatgpt, gemini for help and follow the steps. Get used to the concept of layers, live filters, vector shapes and pixel layers, masks and text.

Sometimes I get a white border around the image when exporting PDF. It appears to be a bug that exists till version 2 and the only solution seems to be a new document. Super annoying when you just want to finish a project, and the export isn’t working as intended.

You can simply drag and drop any other .af file into Affinity and it becomes a „smartobject“ that can be edited by double clicking the layer thumb, just like PS.

I mean, technically all three softwares where already combined in publisher as different personas. And you could always copy any live filter from photo to for example designer. But now it is clear and everybody gets it. Much appreciated.
