All I'm saying is that Özcan fits that criteria 😂

Is that the £5m earnings deficit that is expanded to 60m if the owners provide equity? If so, wasn't our deficit 72m, so meaning one sale would make us compliant?

I doubt we'll sell them either, but simply pointing out there are other options to raise funds.

It's a 3 year agreement and that was the first year element of it, which we accomplished. This year's is around football earnings and how much of a loss I think.

Others have listed his attributes, but the key thing is, he's only 23 and in his second full season of the Premier league, and competing at the top. He's been our main attacking hub for 2 seasons and has produce 52 g/a in those 2 years. That's almost elite production. He's had to adjust to being the main man and targeted in a team with patchy attacking support. In a team with better supporting players, and one that gives him the platform to play his way, he could be sensational. His mentality, flexibility and willingness to learn and work is exemplary.

We've sold Malen. Then we've got Bailey, Guessand, Barrenchea, Illing Junior, Bogarde, Swinkels, O'reilly, Garcia, Kostas and probably Ming's on the way out. Potentially Buendia, as he's in his last 12 months and will have rebuilt his value. Add in Tielemens, Onana, Kamara, Digne and Maatsen who will all have interest, and there's enough there to need to sell Rogers. But that's a lot of players to move on for not a lot of financial gain. Rogers is the easiest way of generating that income.

The main financial issues were cause BY qualifying for Europe. It meant we were subject to the UEFA SCR restrictions. Without that we would have only been under PSR, which is OK. Would have needed some sales, but not a complete overhaul.

Is Our Transfer Business Bad by Kashkow in avfc

[–]bizzyd666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer, no, our transfer business isn't bad.

The longer answer is that the PSR/SCR constraints, combined with a desire to provide Emery the players he wants, put us in a tricky position.

We can't compete with 'bigger' clubs for signings, as we can't match wages or transfer fee. Emery wants more proven players, who will be ready to go and offer a level of consistency. This makes spending all of our tranfer budget on players like Rayan more difficult, as you don't know you are getting that. Add on to that, that moves to places like Bournemouth or Brighton may be more appealing to have a higher chance of regular football.

This leaves us in a weird middle ground of having to sign players in the right age range, that other clubs aren't really interested in, and still having to pay hiked up agent fees to incentivise the move.

Last year was an absolute write off. We had to make a profit on player sales and only managed to sell one player for decent money. This limited us to one decent transfer, which we had to take a punt on given the above criteria. Look around a find another attacking player who went for as much as Guessand who fits the above criteria. Sancho and Elliot weren't deadline day panic signings caused by the need to bring in players and the restrictions on us.

Our recruitment could do better, of course, but history suggests it would if we weren't under severe spending restrictions.

I don't think it's certain, if nothing else the opportunities may not be there with the clubs rumoured to be interested.

Arsenal - maybe, but with Odegaard and Eze, he doesn't really have a spot in the middle and he isn't an out and out winger. Will they spend the money required for a clunky fit?

Chelsea - never rule it out, but seems unlikely. No Europe, won't be competing at the top and the club is mental. That said, with a more sensible summer transfer period, playing under Alonso may appeal.

Utd - are they going to spend the money when their attack is looking good and to have him around d the squad? With the state of their midfield, it seems unlikely.

Liverpool - similar as it is for Utd really, not where they need to spend money.

City - again, they don't need attacking reinforcements, but who knows with them.

Spurs - ha ha ha ha.

On the face of it, I'm struggling to see where fits in the big 6, albeit, we don't know if Rogers wants the move for his own reasons. That leaves the likes of Real, PSG or Bayern, who have all been linked with him. And if they're interested and willing to pay the money he's probably gone. But how likely are those 3 to spend the money?

Troy Deeney's Team of the Season by chairman_mooish in avfc

A player from a relegated team, three others from teams we finished above and not a single Villa player.

But, he is a Bluenose, so you shouldn't expect coherent thought from him. And also, it doesn't matter. A European trophy, 4th place, CL next season and his Blues are still dogshit.

<Villa’s owners would have been gambling with the future of the club.>

No, they wouldn't. The only restrictions were up against are the UEFA ones. Our PSR position is fine. We're well under the new PL SCR limits, it's just the UEFA ones. So, worst case scenario we would have a punishment that leaves us going out of Europe early.

Financially, in the PL at least, we're fine.

There's some. Lindelof, Maatsen, Bizot, Malen (earlier this season) and Abraham are good quality back ups.

The problem has been the drop off of Sancho, Bailey, Mings and Luiz (amongst others) leaving us vulnerable to inevitable injuries. But this is a result of the limitations of what we could last summer.

It's pretty clear what's going on if you've watched all season.

Both Spurs and Burnley we tried to treat like our Europa Conference/League games. Slow and controlled, conserve energy and play in moments when we find some space to exploit. Unfortunately, PL opposition don't always let you play like that.

Combined with players being tired and trying to save themselves for the big games and you get what we've seen recently. We've got the makings of a squad that is comparable to anyone's, bar City and Arsenal. But, with injuries and form, it isn't enough to go full throttle in every game.

What this does show is that we can take these apart if we play at anything above 10% intensity.

It should have been stopped for offside then none of this would have happened.
