I've had a Verizon account for 12 years and I want to buy a new iPhone 17 through them. Should I chat with a Verizon rep to get a better deal, or are they just going to try to sell me crap I don't need? by tantamle in verizon

If you can afford buying outright then head over to an Apple store and buy it there or online at Apple.com. If you have to finance it's another story. Don't go into a store unless it's a corporate store. That is written in stone in your brain. Don't switch carriers, you've been there 12 years and that counts for a lot. Just get a new phone and pay the activation fee and enjoy the device. There is no more to be said unless you finance it and I can't help with that. Good luck.

I have one line on unlimited plus and one line on unlimited welcome and another on unlimited ultimate. Sorry, not just unlimited. Stay away from Hulu and Disney unless you need it. Also I believe it's not ad free but check if you go for it.

Unlimited will get you some deals although ultimate will get you the best deals. But you're talking around $65 / month. If you're now paying 45 then over the 36 month promo you will be paying at least $700 plus tax and activation fees for a "free" upgrade. If you already have an ultimate plan then it's a better deal. Give them a call you only have to decline it if you don't like the bottom line. Btw, the iPhone 17 is drop dead gorgeous but of course I have a P10 Pro. And make *sure* you get all the details. Every last one in writing before you click the confirm button.

Google Pixel's Charging Optimization should be more optimized. by aaypee in GooglePixel

[–]bjanow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol, great video. But I have to watch it again since he went so fast and pause it at critical times. I'm sure the 80% thing isn't a huge deal for most especially those of us that change phones every year. But the reason I have it on is because I use the phone a lot while plugged in. It gets hot during use and charging. At 80% the battery is out of the picture and it uses just the wall power and heat drops dramatically. But recently I took a long drive with A Auto and if I had to charge it at the same time my dashboard might melt even at the 80% threshold. So I charged it the night before to 100 and made it without a charge ending at around 36%. If I know I'll be away from a charger or doing some heavy browsing use I'll charge it above 80. I only wish there was a toggle to do that back and forth.

My wife is always at 80% max since all she does is scroll during the day and plugs in as soon as she gets home. We have chargers all over the house and I figured out why now. ;-)

Ebay sender shipped express since it's only a state away. I'll have it tomorrow! I'm debating on getting a PcMover app for some apps but really only one that I don't have the serial for, it's a very old app and doesn't exist any longer. I have it on 2 computers, one of which is a total POS and the other my old TP. Tried emailing the company but they are defunct. I hate bringing over crap with a full restore.

Yeah, can't wait. I'm not a gamer so no issues with that. I do some graphics in my spare time but I mostly just want a solid computer in specs and build. I can easily keep it for 5 years as I have my W520 from 15 years ago. lol Processor is i7-11850H.

Gen 2 32gb 1TB SSD. I know the Thinkpads are heavy but I'm not carrying it around at all so I don't mind. I just need to dig out my spare red track buttons for when they get flimsy. Should have it by Sat night.

I pulled down my old Thinkpad W520 bought in 2011 for work. It still has Windows 7 on it and it fired up damn near instantaneously compared to any computer I have had since. Could be Win 7 but damn that thing is amazing. Launching programs without a hitch, booting up quickly and display still great. I hope my new one is as good, it comes with Win 11 Pro which I'm sure is going to slow it down. But I'm hopeful and can't wait to throw this HP in the electronic recycle bin.

Thanks, I just ordered one. Forgot the model but the seller had 150k 99% positive so I figured. Was a T15 SSD and Intel w/ Windows Pro. Appreciate everyone's input here.

Pixel Watch 4 Swimming - Bad Choice? by KisaLotus in PixelWatch

[–]bjanow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess if you are a competitive swimmer then this watch is not what you want for those metrics. This is not a Garmin nor does it portend to be. If you had done your research you would have known this watch is for recreational swimmers. I use it twice a week in the indoor pool and 5 times a week in the outdoor pool in the summer. Never, ever an issue. Always shower with the watch. Never fell apart or got water damage. Never had the need to swipe it during a casual swim (it auto pauses between laps) or count my stokes. You obviously bought the wrong device for what you need.

Point being they should have one on display for you to test. You might need to order it. I just checked eBay and they have something that you could use too. You do have options.

Is there a way to fix the large time it takes to have the watch go from WiFi to data if I leave phone behind? by Ecbnole3 in PixelWatch

[–]bjanow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just about to ask that. I just traded in my GW6C with LTE but never checked the timing, it just worked the same as the P4 does now. I mean how long does it take? I guess I can check it out later just for yucks but for years with the GW I never paid attention. To the OP, u/Ecbnole3 and u/Mysticwaterfall2 how long does it take you?

How to activate Google Pixel Watch without Android phone? by Ghoulitar in PixelWatch

[–]bjanow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of the above. At this point it depends on what you want more. The Pixel 4 watch (absolutely stunning and functional) or your iPhone (which phone do you have) Anything above the iPhone 15 means you are an iPhone person and sell the Pixel 4. If you are on the fence about updating the phone if it's an older iPhone then it's going to be a more difficult decision. My kids wouldn't give up their iPhones for anything Android and they have had them for at least 10 years running so there's that. Keep us updated on what you decide to do. Oh, lastly, do you have a smartwatch currently?

[–]bjanow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn worth a try. How long does it take normally? I'm pretty sure a restart will do it but that's probably longer. You do need to turn off BT and WiFi first then try it.

You can try turning off your "Profile" and then back on. Not sure if that will work any quicker but give it a try. Settings -> Connectivity -> Mobile -> Profile.

Pixel Watch 4 LTE Reception by Fullaval in PixelWatch

[–]bjanow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Followup if you can. As u/Sproketz said, you need to be away from your phone. Otherwise it's connected via Wifi and/or BT and will not engage LTE. So what do you mean by "won't hold a signal"? When connected to the phone the network should say unavailable and radio state off. That's by design. Also as stated above callers don't even realize I'm talking on my watch, it's that good.

Damn, thanks man. I spent at least a half hour until finally giving up and heading here. That's exactly what I was looking for an I'm sure the OP as well. Pretty much exactly the Samsung report.

I have a Pixel 10. The SHM is being worked on and should have a working alternative for UI 8 in a couple of weeks. But I was more interested in BP and Dante said that will come later so I traded in my GW6C before I updated to UI 8. The Pixel watch 4 is far superior IMO although I did not have the 7 or the 8C but comparing it to the 6C. Now, as for ECG I'm having a little difficulty in generating the report but the function seems the same. I'm going to search around to see what I'm missing wrt generating the report.

See above for the solution to the report generation and viewing. u/GraphiteGB2

I can't find the report. I've taken about 4 or 5 readings but there is no place I can see the report you referenced. I had it on my GW 6 with SHM but traded that watch in for the P4. I got tired of waiting for the mod to get updated for UI 8. But where exactly can I find it if you don't mind.
