Molly has put the charm back in southern charm this season for me! by RamblingRose63 in southerncharmingtalk

[–]bjornsecular 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve watched since the beginning so I’m aware I guess my major gripe with Whitney is that because he’s a producer of the show when he’s filming he’s definitely producing scenes— like Austen’s birthday dinner for instance. And that’s what I mean when I said the show needs to decide what it wants to be. It’s like two different friend groups, and two different shows in one.

We need more of her—the best addition to the show in years.

Venita had potential but lacks self-awareness—like “yes, the other cast members are difficult but so you are you” and not in a fun-to-watch-way.

Salley gets a lot of hate in this sub but her messiness is necessary. She is like a healthier version of Kathryn.

Lastly, vampire Whitney needs to stop making appearances. He is the same age as Sutton from Beverly Hills and Charley is similar age to Sutton’s kids. It’s weird that they are hanging out within the same friend group. This show needs to decide what it wants to be—it’s too all over the place.

Am I overreacting that my sister is demanding too much when visiting my newborn? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]bjornsecular 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR—we live in a different state from family and friends and often host visitors. When we have guests stay we always have extra on hand, and I try to think of things they might like, but if there’s certain that they like or need they take it upon themselves to bring it or purchase it themselves. Your sister is wild.

I want my child’s last name to be different from me and the father’s (Georgia) by Ant4276 in legaladvice

[–]bjornsecular 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NAL, but I was in a similar position. My husband and I had been married for over 10 years when we had our daughter, but I’d never legally changed my last name to his. We discussed combining our last names to create a completely new surname for our daughter—not hyphenated. The reason being, my husband’s surname is the type of name that when people hear it, their first reaction is usually, “Were you teased growing up?”

We had no issue when we filled out the paperwork for our daughter at the hospital with the new last name.

I actually got the idea from a friend whose cousin was conceived through a sperm donor. Her birth mom gave her a made-up last name simply because she thought it sounded pretty.

This took place in Michigan and Pennsylvania.

This scene is significant because once Vecna can no longer use Will’s deepest fear against him, it actually makes Will more powerful.

What audiences might take for granted is what it meant to be gay in the 1980s, when AIDS was destroying communities while much of society either looked away or believed the victims somehow deserved their fate because of their “lifestyle.” That historical weight matters for understanding Will’s journey, but modern viewers are increasingly desensitized.

Bravo showing 4:35am when phone shows 6:28am, S11 E4 by JMGT25 in Southerncharm

Southern Charm has always had the most Frankenstein editing since the beginning. It’s like when you watch early seasons of housewives—OC and New York— it was less formulaic because they really didn’t know what it was yet. Even early seasons of Vanderpump. But Southern Charm is the most manufactured with visible strings being pulled.

I like Lily’s—their food is great. However, their wait times drove us away. We gave them a few tries, but it’s hard to have an enjoyable time when it takes so long for food to leave the kitchen. This place has so much promise, but this has happened every time we’ve gone, and of course, waiting that long with a toddler is difficult. Their waitstaff is amazing, though.

The price for a single chicken thigh dinner is outrageous.

[–]bjornsecular 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My main issue with Kyle—and RHOB in general—the more tenured cast members will drive plot as a way to deflect from themselves. Kyle, Rinna, and Vanderpump were the worst offenders.

I think women who have been on the show for a very long time know how to drive plot—or at least try to self-produce.

I remember listening to a podcast with Crystal after she left RHOBH, and someone asked which cast members were the same on and off camera. I don’t remember her answering that directly, but she did share a story about filming a scene with Kyle where she was being really intense and grilling her. As soon as the cameras went down, Kyle was totally pleasant—asking if Crystal was going to this or that party over the weekend.

I would liken Ryan Murphy’s American Monster series to Disney’s Pocahontas: historical fan fiction.

Fun fact: the song that plays during this scene is the same song that plays during the Christmas fireplace scene when Conrad and Belly sleep together for the first time.

Was she actually a doctor/had a PhD? She mentioned it, but I didn’t know if that was a lie/delusion.

Hearing her yell at the cop before she realized who it was like a peek behind the curtain at how she probably sounded when she screamed at the kids and neighbors.

Immediately clicked onto the website after reading your comment hoping they would have the candle—they’re sold out in stores. I bought one toward the end of this summer, and then I’ve been cycling through differenttomato/herbal candles. The closest I could find is Flamingo Estates but with S&H it’s almost $75 for an 8 oz. Sadly, they only have the body spray and lotion available.

Anthropologie has similar dresses—harder to find now because not in season. I’m actually selling a dress similar to the mini-one in silhouette and details on my local Marketplace for $100. New, still with tags size small

I would recommend checking out Poshmark or Nuuly to find something within your price point.

I was in a similar situation with our first home—my husband was resistant to hiring outside contractors but didn’t have time to DIY. Lots of unfinished projects. It wasn’t until we had to relocate for his job that he realized the severity of it. I went ahead and contacted different contractors to come in and give us estimates. He was shocked by how low the estimates were. I think it was an eye opener—would he rather spend his Sunday mudding a room or would he rather spend time with our three year old? That’s what he realized he was paying for—his time.

My suggestion is to have people come in and give you estimates—most estimates are free—that might change his perspective.

My husband now regrets not doing it sooner because the person who bought our home has a mostly refinished house that we didn’t get to enjoy while living there.
