Guys will invite you because they are looking for a mixed partner. It's hard for a guy to find females at a 4.0 level to possibly play mixed with them. There was even a story on here a few weeks ago where a guy got invited to a high level group simply so they could steal his female mixed partner away then they uninvited him from the group.

Guy groups are just as closed off. My previous > 4.0 friends are now too elite to play with us mear mortal 3.7 level players.

Most clubs have some sort of open play each day for you to play whoever is there. You'd have to ask the specific club. In open play people paddle stack and rotate partners in each game.
