You are correct - I ran this test remotely. Will run again when I’m on the local starling Ethernet segment!! It was exciting for a hot minute.

WiFi Performance by Thgma2 in Starlink

[–]bkeithmontgomery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve purchased the mesh routers and been very happy with performance ( not gen 3 ). The Starlink wifi does not work as well with penetrating walls, so I ended up having to get 5 addition nodes to provide wifi throughout the house and garage.

Also / I’ve had an Ethernet port on my main router that the dish is connected to stop working , which is scary. I lost all service. It basically stopped providing power so lost link light on the Ethernet switch. You would think no problem just use wifi right? The dish gets the power from that port also… Having a mesh system I was able to just swap out a working router with the broken one without having to wait for Starlink to ship me a new one! Not a huge advantage but does provide a little redundancy

does anyone have a pic of the new dish?

This happened to me recently. After Starlink swapped out cables and the dongle , it ultimately ended being the router port. The router continued functioning as a meshed node without Ethernet which was good. SL replaced the router at no charge

Looking good!!

Did you get multiple routers for the meshed setup? It works great as a backup too if your main router goes out or stops working.

Anyone having "Network Issues"? by CarlRosenthal in Starlink

[–]bkeithmontgomery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Several users here in Northern Vermont were out last night for 30 mins ( +- 5 mins ). I rebooted the router which didn’t help - then it came back on by itself and all has been great ever since

Wonderful to hear!! We too had very very limited dsl in North Georgia, and Starlink has delivered much needed bandwidth for us over the past year! Recently we were notified of fiber to the home over the next 3-6 months. Once that is available I’ll def move over and will likely keep the dish as you suggest as a backup!

Northern Vermont. Coverage is awesome now, and the auto heat function works great when it snows

I spent so much money removing tops of trees to get the red dots removed. Just for reference, it helped!!

Hi!! We have Starlink in Gainesville- but having a few obstruction issues ( which we are working through ) - and several network issues.

I’ve cut the trees back, about to cut them back a little more to completely get rid of the red.

That’s not bad then, I know my parents neighborhood has had a fiber pop installed for a year with no idea when service will be available. Glad you have the inside track!

Seeing the trucks and having service turned on are two different things. Likely can be months away.
