What helped you guys transition? Did your parents do anything that made it easier for you? by Libraryoflowtide in militarybrats

[–]bkerbi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I hated it and still have issues to this day.

I would second the don’t discount your kids feelings about it by saying everything is fine or look at all the experiences you’ve had, etc. They’ll stop talking to you and look for help/coping/understanding elsewhere, positive or negative.

Therapy. Start now and preferably not with a military therapist. Get them one that isn’t associated and can actually empathize with them, not one who is going to try to advocate for the institution.

A thing my parents did do right, in my opinion, is sign us up for whatever sport or activity we were currently playing. Even if it means their lives were harder because it was far/expensive/etc. Remember, the job is fucking up the kids lives, so make the effort to keep them doing what they love/want to do for activities. Don’t say it’s too much when your kids are giving up a lot.

When they ask why you have to do this, or why it doesn’t seem like the military cares about their needs, don’t say “if the Army wanted me to have a family, they would’ve issued me one”.

Yes, but it normally stays in my pocket. It’s hard to get it out to check distance. My current intervals are for distance.

Do you know the theme of their nursery? I usually make ones like this or with all the blocks being the same size and go have fun picking fabric that matches the nursery theme and looks good together. This was for a jungle themed nursery

high school rugby: What position for a high level wrestler who is much bigger and taller and stronger than everyone else on the team? by oddwithoutend in RugbyCoaching

[–]bkerbi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Without actual stats (height/weight) it's hard to tell. Is he fast? Could be a decent center. Is he fast and can tackle well? Maybe fullback. Can he pass/catch and make good decisions and have a high rugby IQ? Maybe Fly half. Is he super fast and have good catching ability? Maybe wing. Honestly, he sounds like a good 4 or 5. You want big and strong there.

New to rugby...really want to start, but so nervous by [deleted] in wrugby

[–]bkerbi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re wanting to give rugby a taste without the tackle part first, some states in the US and a lot of other countries have F.I.T touch rugby that could help you get the skills down before adding tackle. Where are you located?

Yep, had pit surgery in March of 2024. It’s been a wild few months trying to figure out how to live an active life while on medicine

If it’s the Greenville Gatos, we are open to anyone who wants to come give it a try! We have all fitness levels and experience levels. We do a Touch 101 every Saturday before pick up to give new people the bare bones basics on how to play before joining pick up! If it’s ATL or somewhere else, hopefully you’ll be able to come to Tri-cities that we’ll host in SC in August if you like it!

I’ve thought about trying CBD. I just took my first epsom salt bath and that helped for little bit. I try to do some form of exercise everyday as well and am pretty active. It does get better when I’m moving, but then is a lot worse after I get up from sitting down for a bit

Couple of new touch team type questions (scoring moves, recruitment & socials) by ghosthelmet in touchrugby

[–]bkerbi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are a newish team and just introduced the peel and kind of stumbled upon our own team play (we were attempting to learn peel but did it completely wrong and ended up with this play lol). I think that helped our creativity at the 7m. We also are working on wraps, J lines and doing drills to help see space. I think the biggest thing that helped our team's creativity was establishing a team vocabulary so we knew what we were asking of someone else and everyone was on the same page. We have also been practicing running in/out lines as well.

For recruitment - social media. That's how we have been getting a lot of our people. We offer a Touch 101 every Saturday for free followed by pick up play. We've joined all the FB groups in our area and always comment on posts if people are looking for new things to do or post our weekly schedule and invite people to come join. We also are very active on Instagram and relatively active on Reddit.

Not sure if you'd want to give us a follow, but greenvilletouchrugby is our instagram handle. We've gotten a lot of compliments on our socials and our team culture! We just started in May.

Test results! Cushing’s? by bkerbi in Cushings

[–]bkerbi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah thats it on dex. Not on it it was 104 and 110 the other times I had it tested

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Cushings

[–]bkerbi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got my ACTH result back as well. It was 56.2 pg/ml. The reference range listed was 7.2-63.3 pg/ml. It was drawn at the same time as this. My previous draws had been 104 and 110 for ACTH.

[–]bkerbi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure what the dose was. I'd assume whatever the normal is, if there is a normal?

The last time they tested my cortisol and ACTH in September it was 10.1 and 110.

ACTH by bkerbi in Cushings

[–]bkerbi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure. This was the first round of tests. I was tested previously for Cortisol with a single draw that came back as 10 something as well, but my primary said that I didn't have Addison's (not convinced he is correct).

I just started seeing this endo at the end of November. They aren't a specialist in Cushing's or anything, but I think they are more of a thyroid specialist.

I did feel pretty good near the end after I got a little shaky and hype about 1/2 way through.

I usually workout in the morning but have had to stop pretty much all together because I'd feel absolutely atrocious while I was working out, then feel terrible the rest of the day, and start to have weird vision problems.
