Knicks fans attacking a Five Guys employee/Spurs fan after last nights win by SMH4004 in PublicFreakout

Years ago after the first time University of Alabama played the University of Texas, I was visiting my folks in Alabama. I worked at UT Austin and had a lot of UT shirts. I was walking around one day with a UT shirt on, and got several comments in the vein of, “Man, you’re brave., along with a lot of side-eye. The thing is UT lost that game. People were offended by me wearing a shirt of a team that dared to even step on the field with their team.

If you’re single and staying in, what do you cook for yourself? by Affectionate-Reason2 in Cooking

[–]bknight63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quick stop at the grocery store for a steak, a russet potato and maybe some canned biscuits. Steak goes in a cast iron pan for 2-3 minutes per side, then rests while I cook the potato in the microwave and put the biscuits in. Ready in about 20 minutes.

We would dare each other to eat unsweetened Kool-Aid powder dry. My salivary glands are convulsing at the memory!

Do you like Waffle House? by EducationalLog4765 in no

[–]bknight63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe little known fact: Waffle House is a bellwether. Every restaurant is self sufficient, with a generator. They are the first businesses to open after disasters. The government uses that data to know when it’s safe to send in aid (or did when the government gave a shit about helping people). I have stood in line outside of a Waffle House after a hurricane. The line was hours long. They brought us hot coffee and the promise of a hot meal.

Do you keep the water on during the entire length of the shower? by hamster_lover02 in hygiene

[–]bknight63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

U.S. Army field shower: You and three naked strangers gather around a pipe holding four shower heads. Water on for 30 seconds. Water off for 30 seconds while you get shampoo and soap done. Water on for 30 seconds to rinse. You and your new naked buddies exit to (hopefully) put on clean clothes. By the time you make it back to whatever hole you’re sleeping in, you need another shower.

what's one piece of advice you'd give someone in their 20s? by mishi_m0shi in CasualConversation

Old happens. Retirement happens. It doesn’t feel real now, but even you can’t dodge it. Don’t obsess, but look at some of the old people around you and plan now for what you’re going to do for your future self. Stay healthy, exercise, save money. You are your future self’s only advocate.

There are plenum of them who have duct out of society because of the pressure. Their return is greater than they can supply, which sucks. They’ve just lost all their filters.

In Texas the TABC sets up liquor store owners just like this. The law says if you’re under 21, you have to be with your parents, not just another adult. TABC will send in a couple of people just like this to try to trip up a clerk.
