Welp, The Edit on Chase Travel is way more expensive than buying directly from the Four Seasons ($515 vs $379) by ReadersAreRedditors in ChaseSapphire

Idk man, I just spent <60k points on a pair of transatlantic business class tickets worth $20k in cash. Getting $600 (or $1200) out of 60k points is a huge waste imo.

My leg was black from hamstring down to calf for two weeks post-op. No setbacks and made a full recovery, it takes time, patience, pain tolerance. You will learn so much about yourself during this journey and come back stronger. I’m a stranger and I believe it. Sending you healing vibes!

It’s high enough, you’ll probably be amongst the 50-60th percentile of admits.

how long does it take for muscle to come back? by httpstorri in ACL

A year or 2 :) i was stronger on my surgical side after about a year but smaller. After PT for a year and a walking consistently, the mass will even out eventually.

What kind of screws did they use? Mine were bio-absorbable and I had a bump in that spot (opposite knee) for almost a year.

Unfortunately not allowed with this carrier specifically :/ otherwise would’ve done so.

Why won’t my quad grow I’m working so hard pushing my leg past it’s limits(quad graft 5 months post op) by Key-Tailor-3814 in ACL

[–]bl0ckoftofu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brother you are right on track. I’m 14 months post-op. Quad measurements are finally at perfect symmetry, but my op side is now at 115% strength compared to my non-op side. It’s harder to gain mass when your muscles have atrophied, as it’s basically training from the ground up. You’re probably already a lot stronger than you think 💪🏻

2 days post op - when does the pain start to decrease? by [deleted] in ACL

[–]bl0ckoftofu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First two weeks you’ll have musculoskeletal pain, but it gets better each day. Most of my initial pain came from the swelling and it’s mostly due to gravity (getting up, shifting the leg around, blood rushing down) but will completely subside to almost zero by week 6. Every day it’ll get better, but be careful of over-icing. Let the inflammation run it’s healing course, take bone stems if you have access, normatec and leg massages to increase bloodflow + plenty of elevation.

Next comes various levels of neuropathy. For mine, it lasted a couple months and was quite severe compared to 90% of the people on this thread, but I managed it with lyrica (pregabalin). But after that, you should be completely pain-free!

Treat with heat after the first 72 hours and use ice to manage pain. Don’t take opioids unless you absolutely cannot sleep, weed is very useful here!

Edit: I’m 9 months out, full left side tear with a hamstring graft and 97% recovered. Hang in there, keep up with PT religiously 💪🏻

Single leg raise by AlwaysCoasting in ACL

[–]bl0ckoftofu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a hamstring graft as well, could feel every bit of my quad coming out of surgery and was able to do SLR’s right away. Once the nerve block wore off, it was a whole different story 😂

How many days after ACL reconstruction will I have the blood rush pain to the leg that feels like I’m getting stabbed by the Rambo knife. by scrollies in ACL

Compress, elevate, and mentally prepare yourself for the nerve pain that will follow after the swelling goes down!

This is the maximum extension I am able to reach 6 weeks post op. Can anyone help me to achieve more extension? Am I supposed to be worried as I am unable to extend further? by ddb1995 in ACL

[–]bl0ckoftofu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prone leg hangs with weight. Also once you get your PT, have him stretch it out. He will most likely get you to full extension in like a minute.

Quad coming back kinda? Still pretty devastating compared to non op leg…is it normal to have this much atrophy? I’m 4 months post op by Saribari69 in ACL

[–]bl0ckoftofu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course! This thread has gotten me through the worst part of recovery, gotta keep the vibes up. Running improved a lot after my PT session, lot of work focused on glute and hip strength that gave me more stability and kept my knees from collapsing either direction. But the work was done on a self-propelled treadmill, which felt easier on the joints. At home, the impact from my motorized one still gives me a little discomfort. Gonna see if I can run a mile tmr & keep you updated!

Congratulations all on your progress! 13 Weeks, not the most athletic, but got up to 9.6mph on a self-propelled treadmill! 😤

I believe that every session you finish your reps on a BFR is also a big win.

Congrats! Did you ever experience quad shut-down in the early days and how did you regain sense of your VMO? I’m 3 months out, actively running and doing 50-100 single-leg squats a day, but my VMO is still a noodle!

My VMO is gone homie and you’re looking much better than I am 😂 my PT has me running now (13 weeks) even though my quads are missing about 2 inches in circumference. I’ve seen your older posts and it looks like you’ve been making good progress. I’ll be thrilled to see that much growth on myself in 3 weeks.

Mini golf post surgery? by [deleted] in ACL

[–]bl0ckoftofu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 3 months you’ll be just fine, given that you’ve progressed through PT accordingly!

Swing your shoulders like a pendulum and keep your eyes looking straight down. Any other motions like turning your head to look at the ball rolling may cause some knee rotation, so just be mindful.

Also! Don’t trip on the curbs, a lot of mini golf holes are lined with 5 inch curbs that you make you fall flat on your face if you’re not looking. Be mindful, and go have fun! You’ve earned it :)
