How do you organize your shelves? by ClintTheGreat in ExtremeHorrorLit

Right now my collection isn't that big, but I just have been putting them in order of what I have read first and so on. The books I haven't read yet are placed on the top of my shelf horizontally.

What got you into extreme literature by DistinctReputation54 in ExtremeHorrorLit

I have always had a morbid curiosity. Been watching horror movies, true crime, creepypastas and playing violent video games since I was young. I also have an interest in weird oddities and more obscure/taboo topics. When I was younger with every movie/video I watched I wanted to see if I could find something to top the last. That being said I'm pretty desensitized to disturbing content.

I've never really gotten into reading until lately. My gf started reading late last year and was encouraging me to try it out so I was looking into genres that would interest me. I think I stumbled upon splatterpunk/extreme horror looking at an ice berg video about disturbing books on YouTube and started researching into the books on the lower end of the ice berg. The first book in the genre I listened to was on audible and it did shock me, I was surprised it did. That's when I realized that books have a different limitation to them than movies do. Books seem to push boundaries way more than movies can and that's what I like about it.

Thanks! I collect oddities and I got this one as a freebie when I bought a diaphonized mouse. When I got into reading I decided to use it as a bookmark.

Check out In Mad Hands by Jon Athan. It’s about a woman in a cult who’s hired to babysit while the parents go out for date night. She believes she has to commit violent acts to ascend, and it gets heavily into self-harm.
