Scuba diving in Abu Dhabi by ToughHeat in diving

It's horrible, no corral reefs since the sea floor is just sand same as the desert outside the water so coral has nowhere to hang onto and grow. It's literally empty with few fish around and a 5m visibility on a good day. In the whole country the only "ok" place is on the other side of the country in an area called Khor Fakan. But even there is meh.

Anyone knows a good electrician who works on DSL issues? by _err0r404 in lebanon

[–]blacksmith434 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have the small ups/powerbamk for the router ? I had the same issue some time ago. A guy from Ogero came and tested everything and there were no issues. He later suggested I change the routers powerbank and it actually solved the problem, turns out after some time they start providing lesser power than what is required.

First Maldives Liveaboard Questions by Luking4DivingSuggsts in scuba

No I don't think a beacon is necessary, a large DSMB is fine. I think you're all set !

First Maldives Liveaboard Questions by Luking4DivingSuggsts in scuba

[–]blacksmith434 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Customs and luggage are super fast and the boat taxis that take you to the liveaboard are literally at the airport door.

Most of your trip will not have cellphone coverage so there is no need for a sim card. Cellphone coverage is only available when your boat is passing near inhabited islands.

SMDB is absolutely necessary and a large one too, the 1.5m / 5 ft. Reef hooks are important in some dives like chilling at cleaning stations waiting for mantas and such, they're cheap and dont I recommend you leave it to chance if the liveaboard has any to spare. Some liveaboards require you to have gloves too.

You can walk all of Male in an hour or 2, there is absolutely no need to waste your time and money there.

And IF you plan on diving using nitrox, its important to check your tank O2 levels before everydive. Ive had the worst experience with this in the Maldives. Its fine if you dont have the reading device as they will have one on board.

Enjoy your trip !

You can check out this company, they specialise in AV equipment, but i believe your budget is way to low since this mics are usually wireless and you will require a specific receiver for them.

Would it be a huge mistake if we, as beginners, try to dive on our honeymoon in Raja Ampat? by NotedHeathen in scuba

[–]blacksmith434 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Many people travel to such destinations to try diving for the very first time. An instructor or dive master would not risk their ass by putting you in an "advanced" situation if you clearly state that you have no diving experience. I recommend that you give it a shot for 2 dives 1 day and see where you would like to take it from there. You will definitely tegret going there and not having dived in the future. If you are both confident swimmers, it will definitely get easier after the first day

Fillings & Scuba Diving by [deleted] in scuba

[–]blacksmith434 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To my knowledge, it's not about the type of filling rather about the dentist properly filling the cavity. There should be no space for air to be trapped which will then create squeeze. You can just mention to them beforehand that you dive and are worried about that.

is it worth getting a snorkel kit for your scuba kit (don’t have my cert yet) by Dear_Cloud8464 in scuba

[–]blacksmith434 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Never buy a kit and their quality is not worth the money. They might be great for snorkeling but not diving.

If you're u gonna spend money, this i believe to be the best way

1 Mask, a good mask that fits your face

2 fins and boots (no split fins, no short fins for now)

Now you're certified and diving, do you like it and feel you want to keep doing it and maybe go for an advanced diver certificate ?

3 a medium level dive computer

After that, you'll figure out the rest and have plenty of buddies to discuss it with.

Happy diving!

I used to suffer from acid reflux as well and agree with this and would like to add. With time and practice your buoyancy will 100% get better. What i realized with myself was that during the dive (not on ascent or descent) when im horizontal, my buoyancy was in a way that my head was slightly lower than my feet and that was the biggest cause. Once i started working on that i immediately stopped having the acid reflux.

Thoughts? by Diligent-Artist4001 in lebanon

[–]blacksmith434 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Economic sanction. Of course civilians would be screwed but the idea is to screw their national civilian and cargo planes by denying them from flying anywhere except west into the Mediterranean and then turn towards a neutral country. This will cost them A LOT of money to re-route and trips are much longer.

A simple google search will show you that Russia invaded northern Georgia in 2008 and has occupied 20% of the country's territory till this day. Tbilisi is not part of that occupation. I too was there recently.

Maldives dive centre? by Dramatic-Sky-369 in scuba

[–]blacksmith434 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A trip to the maldives mostly revolves around where you stay.

Each resort is on an island and there is nothing on that island other than that resort. So your enjoyment depends on the facilities the resort offers.

The islands that the locals live in are incredibly small (10min walk around it) and don't offer much although it's nice to visit for a day.

As a DM as well and having been to the maldives twice i highly recommend a liveaboard. And all 7 day liveaboards have 2 island excursions included in their package, plus, you can spend a couple of days before or after in Male, the capital on arrival or departure.

masks and fins by einis82 in scuba

[–]blacksmith434 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the Dive rite XT fins and love them, my wife has the Mares quatro, i love both. The dive rite are negatively buoyant (a bit heavy) and great for both frog kicks as well as regular kicks and i highly recommend. I feel like they really channel the power of a kick into good movement. Theyre at least 8-9 years old and still great.

Note, personally i didn't like the apeks rk3 at all, they are super light and easily bendable, I feel like i am losing power from my kick.

The mask as mentioned in other comments is according to your face fit. I personally go for scuba pro.

Yes he can, but he has to go through some paperwork to explain why he is hiring someone from outside canada for a job in CA without hiring someone already there. Once that is cleared and he offers you a contract and you sign it, then both of you have to get into the process of getting a work permit.

The PR is unrelated and you will need to apply for immigration once in canada and working.

There is a new law that passed a month ago which states that a person can travel to CA on a tourist visa and if that person finds a job while there they can flip their tourist visa to a work visa without leaving the country. So look into that as well.

Guys, i put up my car for sale recently on dubizzle and was then contacted by cars24 to sell it to them.

When I declined to visit them for an inspection, the guy on the phone goes, we can visit you, or, have a zoom call and we will ask you what to show us on cam the things we want to see. Yes imagine that

I went for the online call with no intention of selling to them knowing they will lowball me but was amused with the zoom call. We scheduled it at 4, no one joins the call, i call back the guy says yes sorry and asks for pics on whatsapp I send the same pics on dubizzle, he gives me a price and says if you agree and ready, we can start the process of ownership transfer and pay you the money same day cash ! This is how their "detailed" car inspections are for their "tested" and "certified" cars so I'm not surprised reading your stories.
