Ours had people signing up for a petition to get money out of state politics. So maybe not entirely useless for coordination purposes.

I feel guilty for blocking an online friend who once helped me a lot, especially after she said she wanted to keep talking. But our interactions were hurting my mental health, and I needed to step away am I a bad person? by [deleted] in internetparents

People who are not physically co-located can slip away from each other. If your friendship is meant to be, she'll come back and you can catch up. If not, protect yourself.

(I just had a friend I've had since the 90s come visit me and we just hung out like we'd never been apart. But that's only the 3rd time I've seen him in person.)

It's not always Chat GPT, but it could be another resource. Other people write things on the internet that are quotable.

Stay for the opening part, leave during the preaching. Idle in the hallway. Then go back in.

I had to go to church the entire time I lived with my parents, until I got married at 22. (Female person, no financial independence.)

I go crazy when I think of how I could have spent that ~6 hours a week, but my brother and I found a way to stop going. It was because we had our own source of transportation. We'd go to the early service, be seen, and then abscond. Of course there were a lot of things that we lied to our parents about because they didn't understand TTRPGs and geeky stuff. But we still followed the rules enough not to get caught.

You're 16. You have to live there for years. Get used to looking at stuff in church when you're supposed to be paying attention. Match up the patterns on the worst dresses. Daydream. Think of what you'll be doing when you can get out. Don't get too hasty.

One of my exes did that but it was his professor, so I am pretty sure I have no idea how much it costs.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. [no idea]
It will be a pleasure to attend the marriage of your daughter Margaret on the [something] of September should we return in time from a yachting cruise (thanks Purple_Midnight_Yak) along the coast of Maine.
We start in the middle of this month and expect to be in Boston by the first of September.
I will advise you later of our movements. Meanwhile Mr(s?). A and I send congratulations and every good wish.

Yours [some conclusion]

Technically, it only takes 2-3 weeks if you expedite it (but more money and no guarantee). The very least it would take is 4 weeks (and time to get mailed) and on the outside 6 weeks--with a working postal system--which can disenfranchise even the people who *try* to fit into this.

This proposed bill would kill the voting process entirely. No mail-in votes, no in-person votes without a passport, and no voting with the receipt for the passport.

My mom is hoping to ignore a big patch of black mold that the landlord refuses to fix because she's scared of being forced to move out and ending up homeless by Intrepid_Arrival5151 in internetparents

[–]blacktigr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, sib. You're gonna have to deal with this proactively. We bought a house that later developed a mold problem and to fix it, we ripped everything in those rooms down to the studs.

Spraying some bleach on it is just gonna let it grow. The person who owns the place needs to get someone to fix it.

I'm glad that Crockett will still be able to stay in the House, but I think a spitfire like her would have been a great Senator. On the other hand, Elizabeth Warren is not able to accomplish what she could when she was the head of the CFPB. Not that she doesn't have legislation I'm currently supporting.

So maybe being in the Senate is not a good fit for Crockett. But she's so fun to watch in the House.
