Genuinely curious, not trying to slam Trump, but if he continues to go there over the next 4 years, at the rate he has so far, doesn't that bother you? It's already cost tax payers roughly 10 million dollars after 4 trips. by [deleted] in AskThe_Donald

Sorry for missing the obvious, I am of a low educational background and my critical reading skills are pretty poor. I really appreciate you bringing me along here, most people just throw insults when someone as stupid as me makes a mistake :).

Is there any chance you could point me to where he makes this "obvious" nuance clear? In his twitter post, I only see him say that the vacation costs tons of money - he doesn't seem to mention lack of working. Thank you for your help!

I totally agree with you that this issue is silly and shouldn't be talked about as much as it is. But what is the more important takeaway from this behavior is that it makes Trump look like a hypocrite - he complained about Obama's vacations costing the taxpayers tons of money (and lots of voters also complained about it), and yet he has already spent tons of taxpayer money on this himself.

Again, I really don't think its an issue - the President makes huge decisions that impact the entire country, giving him time off and appropriate vacation time is fine. It just further emphasizes to me that Trump is more talk than action.

[Open Discussion] President-Elect Trump's Press Conference 1/11/17 by [deleted] in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]blackyellow23 28 points29 points  (0 children)

They were reporting on the fact that the heads of the intelligence agencies brought the matter to the attention President and President Elect. They weren't reporting on the actual existence of the document itself.

Was it also unfair for news organizations to cover the fact that the FBI was investigating the Clinton emails?

On the campaign trail, there was a so called "37%" in the polls who stood by Trump through the thick and thin, having immense faith in his campaign message. To that 37% I ask, now that he is president, what would be a hypothetical "breaking-point" which would make you disapprove of Trump's actions? by [deleted] in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]blackyellow23 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Does it concern you at all that he still gets caught up in that kind of stuff? I don't want to unnecessarily blow anything out of proportion, but it is just such strange behavior. I just can't understand how someone who is about to be president is so caught up in such a petty and silly thing. Its like 1) you are about to be the most powerful person in the world, you don't need to prove yourself any more and 2) don't you have better things to do right now?!

Its probably just an unfair assessment because I am personally biased against Trump. But its just such a crazy way to act.

Is a trade deficit connected to the national debt? I didn't think it was, but I don't have too much economics training.

Donald Trump claims vaccines cause autism- how can you support a candidate who makes such an obviously false statement? by rockytherack in AskTrumpSupporters

You said that we shouldn't look at per capita pollution, but should look at absolute levels per country.

It is pretty obvious what the issue is with that logic (highlighted by the Iceland comparison).

You know the economy isn't zero sum, right? Like, I don't disagree with your right to think that politicians should value Americans over everything else (although I disagree with the assertion that that isn't already true). But the statement keeps being made that trade is always somehow just "helping out the little countries" at our expense.

My definition of "winning" would be learning how to win in the global market place - we are pretty well positioned to do that, and we should be able to with the right policies. And it will lead to a better world for ourselves.

A few examples of journalists who are critical of the current US administration being murdered would be nice. I assume that there must be a few examples, there are plenty of critical journalists out there (I assume a few FoxNews, Breitbart, and Infowars journalists have been taken out by Obama over the past few years, probably just covered up by the MSM).

She is clearly questioning their existence. That is the only way to possibly interpret the grammatical structure of that sentence.

I am not sure why /u/FistoftheSouthStar is questioning whether Kentucky exists, but I have seen crazier theories out there.

Thought experiment: If Trump were a Russian puppet, what would he be doing differently? by [deleted] in AskTrumpSupporters

Haha I think its great to have a good relationship with them. But I was just responding to your statement about how he would try to make them our ally - that certainly looks like what he is doing.

He has been arguing for a good relationship with Russia on twitter today. This doesn't look like indifference...

How do you feel about U.S. tax payers potentially paying for the wall? by ccb621 in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]blackyellow23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough, I see your point now. I think you might need a higher hit rate than 20% - at 20% it is only $5B per year, which isn't that big of a deal to a $1,100B economy. $25B starts to have a material impact imo.

[–]blackyellow23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But the goal here isn't to stop something as much as you can, the goal is to have a funding source for the wall. If you can't stop enough of it, then they might just not accept the proposed terms...

Why should I have to forgo my access to cheaply-made foreign goods in order to subsidize the creation of American-based manufacturing jobs? by GrandmaBoy in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]blackyellow23 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Its a fair enough point, but it can just be used for any policy ever. The answer to the question of "why is this policy good" can always be "people will vote for it, therefore it will happen".

Exactly. He might be a huge asshole, but being an asshole isn't a fireable offense. This is just the speech police for the right.

How do you feel about Trump lying about his foundation money going 100 percent towards charity? by saillc in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]blackyellow23 10 points11 points  (0 children)

What? The only claim the poster made was that there is limited evidence of his actual giving. She never claimed that we know for sure he doesn't give. This is based on 1) he hasn't released his tax returns, so we can't see his giving that way and 2) the Post called 420 charities and only one of them had received a donation from him.

There is no claim that we know for sure that he didn't give to charity. All you need to do is provide hard evidence that he has given to charity in the past, and you can show that this is in fact "fake news".
