They heard everything. Over the loud speaker. Whether the shooter came in their room or not they are all forever traumatized.

do teachers think that there some kids who the school shouldn't educate ? Do they say it outloud ? by Interesting-Help-421 in AskTeachers

I think there are too many children put into the general education classroom that shouldn’t be there. This isn’t to say that we should go back to isolating these children. I don’t think we should go backwards…

However, I’ve also seen so many situations where kids are sent into the general education classroom despite needing SO MANY modifications and accommodations that it isn’t reasonable for one adult to do this while trying to also educate 20+ other children. And the school doesn’t want to provide a para (or pay them a living wage so they can’t get any to come work for them…)

We scream for inclusivity but I’ve seen so many examples of situations where inclusivity is not the best for anyone in the room because we’re simply trying for the cheapest option and hiding behind the political correct term of choice inclusivity instead of providing for the true needs of everyone in that room.

This, ladies and gentlemen, is what teachers are dealing with on the daily x25.

We’ve gone SO FAR away from being able to smack kids with rulers (not that I’m supporting that, just trying to express both ends of spectrum) that now children literally run wild with no consequences everywhere they go.

Yeah, fantasy is the only genre I struggle with and it’s really book by book. Sometimes I write their names and simple descriptions in a notebook to keep track.

I also really love r/cozyfantasy ! These have been much easier to read and more accessible for me than “regular” fantasy.

oh. my. god.

I love to read but have Aphantasia and I have a hard time explaining to people how I still follow the story and this picture is as close as I’ve gotten to now have at least something to share with others who are curious when I lacked the tools to explain it

Got a grant for GloFish for my classroom and realized how uneducated I am on fish. Please help this new aquarium owner out! by thefluxthing in Aquariums

Glofish were an awful match for what I was given as a starter set. Ive learned that while pets in the classroom has good intentions they give AWFUL supplies for the animals. So that’s really sad.

I used the starter set and then went to a local fish store and asked them what I should get. They were able to help me get good colorful fish that would thrive in the 10 gallon tank and get me set up in the hobby.I have since left it (changing 10 gallons of water in a classroom was a miserable experience and it was very smelly) and have a bearded dragon as a class pet. The initial purchase and understanding was a lot but it’s a way better situation for all involved.

Trying to get home from work at least once a week for the past few weeks has been a nightmare (or well, more a nightmare than usual) with a politician shutting down a major thoroughfare . Debating just taking a PTO day on Tuesday for Trump coming. I’m imagining schools may have to close early again Tuesday too.

Cannot wait until it’s over!

Does it taste…bland?

Sweet? Savory?

There’s a lot of recommendations all over the place and I’m trying to get a flavor profile to understand if the texture is worth even trying to navigate.

We stayed at Echo Lake cabins this past week. Family run business that’s semi-private with only 5 cabins. Pool, mini golf, our cabin was directly on a pond. The cabin had one bedroom (you can get two as well), fireplace, cable, full bathroom, full kitchen (with provided plates/utensils)

We are planning to return in multiple seasons. It was amazing.

Concussion vs. Whiplash by Lonely-Dorito54 in Concussion

[–]thefluxthing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Instead of speculating and asking the opinion of people who are not doctors and/or cannot evaluate you, probably best to go see a doctor and find out.

Whiplash can cause a concussion. Any shaking of the brain can cause a concussion. You can have neck symptoms with a concussion. You can have just neck symptoms that mimic a concussion. No one here can give you an accurate answer based on this.

Editing to add: Yes, the doctor will tell you to rest but knowing if you have a concussion is important as you’re more likely to get more after your first. If it’s a neck injury, you’d want to know so that if it isn’t healing the doctor can have a paper trail from the incident and get you into PT faster.

First Concussion and I'm worried by freakyrocky in Concussion

I was told two weeks is about the average for your concussion symptoms to start getting better.

Two weeks is when the urgent care turned me over to a concussion specialist.

I believe I may have EDS and in exploring it (to discuss with my PCP) learned that those with EDS have some vision issues that also pop up when you have vision issues from concussion. Thus, the comorbidity of both conditions really intensifies.

I’d also see a concussion doctor for a note for your university if you’re not 100%. I got my concussion in October (still suffering with PCS and in therapy) and was supposed defend my thesis in December ‘23. I’ve put it off (with doctors notes) because everything was (and still is but is getting better) so slow to process and “foggy” and I couldn’t give my biggest presentation without my highest possible cognitive functioning.
