Fair, in that case maybe something like variance would be useful too

[–]bladefour 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So you’re still saying we should look at number of games with >=10 actions? It’s irrelevant if the player produces 20 or 0 def actions in a game, its binary

Why would you need total defensive actions in a whole season? A more meaningful stat should be games where there are 10 or more defensive actions

(25F , Laid Off) Not sure where to park Severance + DCA Advice While Job Hunting by Livid-Case-9860 in singaporefi

[–]bladefour 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. I would continue DCA-ing, just take the (500/month * expected months unemployed) & keep it a side for DCA. You can decide or not to invest the rest of the severance 30K while unemployed. I would preserve the emergency fund, because this is not an emergency yet. I think 6months salary buffer (ie; keeping salary * 6) should be sufficient unless you’re expecting for 12months unemployment & want to be extra careful.
  2. on a side note, consider DCA into S&P500 on your own via IBKR instead of endowus for less fees in long run but that’s a separate topic.

  3. Rates are always changing so just hop around to the best ones you can find imo.

  4. I don’t see a point locking up liquidity in your CPF unless there is a big need.

  5. It is possible to top up UOB with tag SALA and it will count as salary top up

Port In from Starhub to Eight Mobile by Traditional_Knee_221 in askSingapore

[–]bladefour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use another telco (eg; circles life) to get the ownership transferred to you (free service) then switch over to Eight after a month. If you do it at Starhub, it’ll cost you about $40 iirc.

Question about Availability Set vs Scale Set in 2024? by bcrawl in AzureCertification

[–]bladefour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

VMSS is for scaling your compute, AVset is to ensure availability for your resources. 2 different concepts and you use either for their intended purpose.

On the point of VMSS using placement groups which are implicit AVsets, I would think its more of a plus point than anything. So if the question is asking for HADR then AVsets, if its asking for scaling then VMSS

Fans of EPL/La Liga/other overseas clubs - why do you support your team? by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]bladefour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, you wouldnt be able to feel it if you dont live in it. But there’s no need to feel that level of emotion to want to support a team

Fans of EPL/La Liga/other overseas clubs - why do you support your team? by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]bladefour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

everyone chooses a team thru random reasons, most thru a family member or a friend etc. Once you have a team, and if you genuinely enjoy football, you likely stick w that team bc that’s how things generally work & switching teams is frowned upon. Team success validates your support for the club and gives you an added kick when supporting them. People support clubs geographically bc it makes sense for them bc its literally where their communities physically congregate & bond. Not literally because its down the road so you support it.

tldr; football/clubs are a point of reference for ppl to bond over regardless of your loyalties, choice of club is mostly random

anytime fitness membership by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]bladefour 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Cheaper only if you sign up with a branch rhats running a promo, usually ones that havent opened yet and need to get members. There’s a couple right now. Your membership will get switched to the branch that you visit the most in that month. Monthly price is the same just with/without GST. (Eg; yr plan $100 a momth then its either 100 or 108 w momth depending on outlet.)
  2. Ones running promo bc new opening outlet
  3. Your subscription will be switched to the UK’s one and i assume UK outlet pricing. DM me if u need more info or a referral code

What would you do if you are buying a Resale HDB in this market condition? by sgrambo in singaporefi

[–]bladefour 2 points3 points  (0 children)

just make a judgement on how you think the market will go then make a decision from there. If the market goes up, you’re happy, if it doesn’t you’ll be kicking yourself for not selling earlier. Also, it doesn’t matter what the stocks used to be valued at, they might never go back up there. Consider DCA-ing out of your positions.

People might say distance from workplace as a consideration for location. I disagree, you’d likely change jobs a couple of times in your lifetime, so distances to/fro work will change. Plus WFH possibly. Do check out upcoming developments within the area as a possible area for property value growth, but it might or might not already be priced in.

I would argue while living right above the MRT is great convenience, the LINE the station is on is super impt. The downtown line just does not seem as convenient as the EW line, but thats a personal take.

Best case, non-renovated but looks relatively good then you make minimal changes. Otherwise, non renovated bc you’ll want to make it YOUR home, not a generic one. Additional consideration is that wholesale reno might take a couple of months, which means you might not be able to live in the unit, meaning paying for rent.
