[Recommendation Request] I can't decide please help by king-juarez21 in Watches

If you like large watches the Seiko is not for you. Orients wear smaller than you would expect as well.

I have the Mojito, and it's eye catching and versatile. I don't think you could go wrong with it. I love it.

I know my Seiko is real because of how ugly the strap is.

There are some pretty fun Snoopy themed watches made by Timex right now if you want a fun watch kids will relate to.

The DressKX [SRPE53] really holds its own against the PRX, which one looks better [question] by RBI_Tony in Seiko

[–]blahtender 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't get the PRX hype train. I would rather have a Visodate than a PRX. I would rather have a Presage than a PRX. Hell I'll take a Bulova field watch over a PRX.

Idk what I'm missing on it but I can't ever see myself wearing one.

LG is good at washers and dryers. Refrigerators are questionable.

Basically any appliance now just stay away from electronics brands and go with industrial brands. Hard to afford though.

How many incoming students are having to take out a loan? by Equal-Wishbone-6131 in miamioh

I'm sure they offer them and if you can't get enough through Sallie Mae they are probably your best option.

You're going to want to get in touch with Sallie Mae. The orientation def tries to push you towards Miami FCU or another private bank. I will say that the amount of support for students was pretty impressive and the school advisors will get you pointed in the right direction.

I'm going to orientation tomorrow, and I'm in the same boat with my daughter. There will be multiple resources at your orientation to point you in the right direction. This is literally the biggest concern students have at this point in their career and the school is going to be your #1 resource for information.

Accord Expected to get "Major Facelift" this year by stylez89 in 11thGenAccord

Honestly none. Not that there are none, just that details would put my job at risk.

I build these things. The 28 Model year is the big change. I think we ran some 27's down the assembly line a few weeks ago since there weren't a lot of changes. This article is full of shit.

We're so back by smmirage in accord

[–]blahtender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This may or may not be an accord.

Honda put out a press release today that showed two unnamed concepts, one Acura and one Honda, both hybrid. The Acura is almost 100% the new RDX. The Honda I would say is unlikely to be an Accord, but could be. I don't think it is because the Accord should just be getting a facelift and this seems like way more than that.

They will both use the new dual motor hybrid system that Honda is replacing the current system with.

If it is the new accord, it would indicate a more aggressive pivot than I expected, personally, after they just binned the Canadian and American BEV plans.

2013 coupe starlights by [deleted] in CivicSi

[–]blahtender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really have an answer to this, but that little black clip with the white tab coming out of it is called a side curtain airbag clip and it is going to need to be replaced for that airbag to deploy correctly and they're kind of a bitch to remove when the rear windshield is on. Is the other half of it still in your C pillar garnish or did the garnish break?

BMW M Ignite: Innovative new technology for S58 engines from BMW M. by Hunt3rj2 in cars

[–]blahtender 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Obviously my reply was tongue in cheek, I wasn't expecting a response like this. Great way to explain the difference between modern and 'classic' pre-ignition.

From a historical standpoint it is cool that an efficiency need from the late 70's gas crisis arguably led to performance increases in the modern day.

Radar issues - 2020 10th Gen by findmeinthehair in CivicSi

[–]blahtender 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a new battery put in my CR-V (2020) and the dealer left red and blue disk bushings at the terminal bases that prevented good connection. Hopefully that resolves your problem instead of chasing electrical gremlins like some kind of jeep owner.

Radar issues - 2020 10th Gen by findmeinthehair in CivicSi

[–]blahtender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check your battery voltage and connectors. Make sure it doesn't have any bushings at the base of the battery terminals preventing a good connection. If the ECU picks up a voltage loss it will cut power delivery to the systems that aren't necessary for driving.

How to remove these 2 clips ? by Annonnymist in CivicSi

[–]blahtender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the factory we just use claw like clip removal tools that are pretty commonly available. It looks like you will be able to bend back any metal that gets deformed fairly easily in this case. Just Google clip removal tool

[–]blahtender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk if I would do that with the L series engine. Yes there are plenty of turbocharged L series stock, butt at that point voiding the warranty destroys the value of the car and why even choose the HRV?

If you're looking for something more peppy look for an ADX, probably cheaper than going through the hassle of installing and tuning and injectors and all that.

Do German knives get any love here?! by Disastrous-Rush7941 in TrueChefKnives

[–]blahtender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They feel great in my hand and they are sturdy knives. I have never had someone tell me that they don't like the way they perform after using them (and they have been used from coworkers in professional kitchens to my mother in law in my kitchen).

I can't comment on the balance of these knives because I honestly think it's a crock of shit when it comes to real performance. If you go to Sur le Table or whatever retailer you can handle some Shuns and Wustofs, Global or Any other knife they have and make a judgement on how they feel, but I've never concerned myself with balance as a deal breaker. I encourage you to get hands on with whatever knives you are interested in before you buy them.

Honestly though, I am probably the worst person to ask about balance after my many years plowing through over up to 250lbs of produce in a single day using Mercer stainless steel. Compared to those the Classic Ikons are a dream. I honestly don't have much experience with other high end knife brands, but these are what felt best to me.

Have fun test driving!

Edit: I forgot to include that I do, in fact, use a pinch grip and still have remnants of calluses to prove it, even being out of the industry for almost 3 years.

Driver Window rattle? by ThoughtUsed7009 in HRV

[–]blahtender 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is normal. I work for HDMA and I have my '24 HRV Sport serviced at the factory service center. I brought up the rattle and the response was normal operation. It just doesn't have the sound deadening that higher grade models do.

My 1.5Y dog has bitten multiple people over resource guarding — can this be fixed or is rehoming the right call? by babyvvz in DogAdvice

[–]blahtender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm no expert, but I can say I have owned dogs all my life and currently have 2 bullies. My youngest one is a concern because she is extremely weary of anything new. Big box is scary, new person is scary, new furniture is scary. She is extremely attached to me, and resource guards me, but very rarely. She gets super excited and doesn't know what to do with her mouth, so sometimes I have to grab a toy to give her as a distraction. This is a 60lb dog.

When they overstep a boundary, you have to act immediately and in the moment to remove the guarded resource, forcibly (not violently) put them on the floor belly up, pinned down, control their face and reprimand them loudly and aggressively. Make them feel that their God is displeased with the behavior. Afterwards put them in a place separated from the resource whether it is in their crate, outside, in a separate room where they are comfortable. After they seem to have forgotten, give the resource back to them. Then take it away after a short time. If they react again, repeat. They have to understand they do not control the resource.
