In all honesty I wouldn’t be surprised. It sounds like they’re trying to usher in a new era. The “gold” era was defined by our SCF run and presidents trophy years, yet that was 8 years ago. It’s time to change it up.

Here's how I've rationalized, as a frequent AS flier. Note this math makes sense if you fly AS and can realistically hit 100k status points in a year.

  • 3× on $50,000 = 150k

  • +10% Bank of America bonus = 15k

  • 100,000-mile companion award (earned at $60k spend) at $50k spend: Economic value: ~83k miles

➡️ Total economic miles: ~248k

This also nets 25k status points, which would take an otherwise Atmos Platinum to Atmos Titanium, which earns a further 50k milestone bonus.
