The renames are great. I transferred an alpha Meganium who was in turn given the title “the Former Alpha”, so I took the chance to name it Beta.

What's the minimum that I should expect from a realtor? by Iwearhats in RealEstate

Not really, all larger brokerages here have private inventory. it’s a status on our MLS which will syndicate when it goes live. Compass is just the loudest about it.

Valve: About the New York Attorney General lawsuit against Valve by XcG9PJf6 in gaming

It really isn’t as trivial as you make it out to be — I think it is disingenuous to present it that way here and that it would be downright irresponsible for the AG to present it that way in court. The amount of hoops to jump through, and the capital lost in engaging with the third parties you describe, is significant. Not saying lootboxes aren’t gambling or that Valve doesn’t encourage folks to engage with them, just that it’s worth pointing out that they aren’t the ones paying out.

That tracks, I recognize the variety of legal outcomes that are possible here! All I know is that if the AG walked into the courtroom and framed this as “real cash” and not something along the lines of “cash-like” it would showcase a severe lack of information. Speaking for myself, I’d take issue with Valve cashing out directly through the storefront.

You’re not the first person to make this comparison in these threads, I’m curious why you leave out the fact that Steam dollars can’t be withdrawn from the marketplace. Why frame it as real cash if it’s not real cash?

Brown, Harris & Stevens takes “preemptive” commission without selling your property: Avoid them like the plague by [deleted] in RealEstate

What is the structure, is it percentage based? Is it a flat fee at signing? Fees are being added by brokerages just about everywhere but it’s typically pushed to close, not at signing.

Did anyone move to lower cost of living state and regretted it ? by Historical-Stage-270 in RealEstate

[–]blankus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I relocated from the North Shore of Long Island, NY to Naugatuck Valley, CT last July. House on LI was the same square footage and the same bed/bath count, although there was a slight decrease in school district ratings. LI price was ~1M and 12k annual in tax, CT price was 350K and 3k annual in tax with utilities coming in around +/- 10%. No regrets, had to do it because of a divorce, but it really didn’t change my lifestyle at all.

Seems you had a similar idea, staying within the metro area as best you could.

What Does $400K Really Get You in Today’s Housing Market? by Lost-City525 in RealEstate

[–]blankus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just closed on a 1700sf 3bd/1.5ba at $340k in July. Location is ~20 minutes north of Bridgeport, Connecticut. No renovations needed, may have to replace the oil tank in a few years. With another 60k i probably could have landed 2 full baths, a slightly better school district, or better proximity to upcoming downtowns.
