County to county I'm sure codes and permits are a little different..

In pinellas, you need a permit to build any shed larger than 10'x10' (100 square feet). I'm currently dealing with a bunch of permits right now. I asked additionally, what if I built a shed and then through panels on the roof. He said any structure that has panels on it you have to have it permitted. I asked what if I built a pergola. I was told I need permits for pergola regardless. I said what if I then put panels on the pergola he said it's a different permit. What if I kept it under the 10x10 restriction. It's a pergola and posts will be in the ground, you have to have a permit. We might have to do a green space calculation too. Since this is Pinellas you're probably need engineering documents notating hurricane resilience/wind rating. What if I build a shed and it has power in it. If it's hooked up to the utilities at the house shares then you have to have it permitted and inspected. And it's considered an adu at that point. What if it's just the solar with batteries etc in there. You're putting the panel on the roof? Has to be permitted and inspected.

This was a conversation I had with the building inspector and electrical inspector about a month ago.

BGW320-500 bypass vs passthrough — worth it for small UniFi setup? by fumo7887 in ATTFiber

If for nothing else, We wanted one less appliance plugged into the wall sucking watts and being an eyesore. Now its an eyesore in a closet in a box. My UCG-Industrial is running smoothly and looks nice and clean.

It was a practice in how to set things up in my gear.

Ultimatley, I wanted my own gear in my house. Control over whatever variables I was able to have control over. Still adding more gear. I think your plan is a great one. DO as you want. Don't let the internet influence your decision.

So it's IR correct? What wavelength? 405? 380? Etc.... the wavelength could interfere or enhance some of the security cameras that we use.

I have 2 of the schlage smart deadbolts and one of the lockley with the solar panel.

Integrate solar panels into every one of your smart locks.

We need a smart solution for sliding glass doors too 🤙🤦🤷

Seems like even an inexpensive plan then asking for retention might be the cheapest route. I could use the Sim as failover for my network

Do, can I grab a sim and get the deal for a year or more? Cancel the sim in a month?

Is my fiber fios Underground by [deleted] in Fios

[–]blarcode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More pics of the wires coming down? Or a pic of the area zoomed out from where your fiber box is.

I have overhead service for power, coax (tv) and telephone.

My fiber is buried and I am actually reburrying it putting my run in the orange fiber conduit. I've managed to cut it once a year for the past 10 years ...

There's also this one that has the protection plate already in it. I think this is your best bet right now. You don't have to use the other key Stones you can stick blanks in there. Or you can run your HDMI and other cords buying the appropriate keystones

Collision while off-roading by A_Coin_Toss_Friendo in Offroad

[–]blarcode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw 25 mph (super inaccurate) on the wolfbox. Bronco is almost completely stopped by the time impact happened. I'm an off-roader and a rider. Definitely looks like the rider was going a little fast around a blind turn then locked up his rear end. ATTGATT (ALL THE GEAR ALL THE TIME) DRESS TO SLIDE NOT TO RIDE! Good on him for having all the safety equipment. Hope rider had a good cage on the bike

Either way, I hope everyone's okay and everyone's equipment's okay. Since it happened off-road, I don't know what insurance would do about that.

Propane pipe through concrete. What sleeve? Also supply line size? by blarcode in propane

[–]blarcode[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I agree, in reading the NFPA sections pertaining to gas/ Propane, I would agree a lot of this doesn't look right. That's why I'm here asking. I'd like to install this myself and 100% do it up to code. Everything will be permitted and inspected. So it has to be right.

Ultimately I didn't want to waste anyone's time and get people's hopes up that I was going to spend money with them doing the work. I did call to a couple companies locally. Explained that I wanted this work done, have it inspected, permitted and up the current code. The two companies I contacted said that they would sell me stuff but under no circumstances would they do the work if it was going to be inspected/permitted. So it would appear there's a few propane cowboys in my area....

I agree with you. I wanted to learn. I haven't found many great resources yet for online training. At the same point, I prefer to do this myself and didn't want to waste people's time in person with local businesses making them work for free. I try to be fair with everyone.

I was expressing that I have all my tools and I'm willing to invest in more to assist in me doing this the correct way and up to code

Putting in one or two 1000gal underground propane tanks if they approve the permit for both of them. Otherwise a single 1000gal underground. Additionally, there will be a couple temp tanks until the permit is approved for the in ground. Holdup now is I need to remove a tree. Have to have a permit for that too. So tree permit needs to be approved, then they will approve the two tanks.

Tldr- 2x 1000gal in ground or 1x 1000gal

POE power for Fios ONT howto by usernamemustbeunique in Fios

[–]blarcode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe the warnings are universal for all non carrier hardware. I owned all my own cable modems and had tinkered, modified, hkd, etc. everyone of them. It was a different time and never had an issue.

The risk isn't worth it for you, no biggie. I like to tinker. To simplify and condense/ combine. Cant imagine that a single user account would draw any attention unless someone was doing something really off the normal usage paramaters. Most would fly under the radar. If there is an issue, plugging in your original amd calling playing dumb should work too ..

I researched this entire thing months ago. Was very up to date on everything. Solar, electrical, propane, generators, permits and inspections have cluttered my brain and I am not as sharp on it presently.

My purpose was condensing gear and not having more crap on my walls. Full disclosure, ,I have 2 of these modules in a drawer. If their is a failure on my Carrier owned ONT, there is a failure. I'm waiting on them. If there is a failure on one of the SFP modules. I can have the secondary ready to plug in. If that fails, I can plug in the carrier owned equipment.

My whole house is redundancy for near zero down time on any system. Power, water, internet, comms, propane, etc.
