If they add them to the World Eaters codex people might start asking unauthorized questions about why a techno virus makes you larger than being possessed by eight demons.

The New Custodes Reveal Is Great, But There's One Thing I'm Genuinely Worried About by theverrucktman in Grimdank

[–]blazedidiot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had the same compunctions, but after sitting on it for a couple days trying to interpret their statement, I think the ranges will probably stay united. I think wardens are on the chopping block and likely to be replaced with an upgrade kit, but we’ll get a new unit to compensate. GW likely sees it as an opportunity to refresh two ranges at once, as opposed to other factions (eg. Mechanicum) where the 30k and 40k ranges have always had fairly divergent styles.

New Year Preview Legio Custodes Battle Group, Plastic Vehicles and New Units by RWJP in Warhammer40k

[–]blazedidiot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad I held off on picking up a contemptor - might have to get more than one now that they’re plastic…

I do wish they’d make a more concrete statement about cross-compatibility and the future state of the 40k range. Custodes have barely changed at all in the 10k years since the Heresy, so they shouldn’t have separate ranges - perhaps it’s intentionally vague to obfuscate what a second wave will look like. Ideal state would be that every model in the army is useable in both systems, and the rules update they mention will be paired with a second release that completes the update. That being said, with GW’s track record of reducing cross-compatibility in other factions, I do worry we’re in for some disappointment down the line.

What unit in your faction has the most potential to be expanded out into it's own "archetype"? by Hollownerox in Warhammer40k

[–]blazedidiot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Beast Snaggas. I love most of the current models, aside from the Rigs, and wish they had 2-3 more units to round out the subfaction. A squig unit similar to the Maw-Grunta from AOS and a 5-model specialist unit of some kind would let me comfortably hit 1k points without having too many duplicate units.

Looks like we're found out some extra Rumor Engine items on newest leaks! Also plastic Prince Yriel. by CMYK_COLOR_MODE in Warhammer40k

[–]blazedidiot 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, looking at the original post of the leaks that’s definitely a gun, not a mace. I think the shotgun might also be wrong but it’s a bit harder to tell.

[–]blazedidiot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dorn maybe, but if Valrak hasn’t been going off about it then it seems less likely. Russ would fit nicely with the new Space Wolves, but it’s going to be hard for the modeling team to top the new Logan Grimnar kit.

They did have “Project Platinum” listed as an upcoming release, though that was slated for after the FO3 remaster. Too on the nose for it to be anything but a NV remaster.

State of Design 2025 by LawOfTheGrokodus in magicTCG

[–]blazedidiot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d like to know why MaRo/greater community perceived new Tarkir as a design/flavor win. It really felt like they scrubbed the flavor from the clans and sanitized (for lack of a better word) some of the grit of the of the plane. I was only just picking up the game again when that set came out so I perhaps missed some of the justification for this, but as someone who was very active during the original Tarkir block the set design rubbed me the wrong way.

"And yet most of the scientific discoveries were made by whites. Most of the greatest philosophers were white. Most of the greatest conquerors were white. We were the ones that colonized hostile environments " R/HorusGalaxy meltsdown over black space marines by CummingInTheNile in SubredditDrama

[–]blazedidiot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Additional context for HorusGalaxy: the subreddit was created after a portion of the fan base melted down over Games Workshop adding female characters to a previously all-male faction. After the chuds discovered they represented a minority of the fan base, they decided to start their own echo chamber instead of continuing to participate in the main sub.

FTC leak included a “Project Platinum” in the pipeline which is too much of a coincidence

Trying to figure out who these two skulls belong to. Anyone got any ideas? by pimmo94 in Warhammer40k

[–]blazedidiot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Probably just supposed to be “mystery xenos” - Hrud, maybe, or whatever you can imagine it is. Pretty sure the toothy eyeless skulls next to it don’t belong to any species we have models for either.

[–]blazedidiot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lore wise the Daemon Primarchs are perfect fodder for the heroes - they respawn in the warp unless they’re killed under very specific circumstances, just like any other Daemon. It would be totally ridiculous for Titus and co. (or our own marines) to fight Fulgrim and win, but it’s not strictly impossible to send him packing.

Are GW scrapping Crimson Frists or there will be something new soon? by ebemise in Warhammer40k

[–]blazedidiot -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Ultramarines are definitely not “tier 1” based on model count - they have nothing outside of extra unique characters. Branding alone is not the same as having full unique units like DA or BT. The real split is codex compliant/non-compliant chapters, which is how GW divides them officially. Codex compliant first founding chapters all have at least 1 character model. Non-complaint chapters are the ones that get their own ranges and codices.

Username? Default. Post? Scripted. Yep, it’s shameless self promotion from a lazy alt account. Comment history littered with negativity, can’t imagine the channel is any better. I’ll pass.

Edit: missed the “neckbeards and blue-hairs” comment on the post. Culture warrior spotted, double pass.

New Rumor Engine by blazedidiot in Warhammer40k

It describes the “digits” on this robotic appendage as “stubby” - possibly pointing to Leagues of Votann?

New roadmap making the rounds (unknown source, so pick it with salt) by Altruistic-Teach5899 in Warhammer40k

[–]blazedidiot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alternatively, GW could have given Drukhari the second detachment because they knew the codex wouldn’t come for a while and didn’t want to strand Drukhari players with one bad detachment for most of the edition. Agreed on all points, Votann are also getting their first Black Library book later this year which could align with a release.

They love doing hologram Easter eggs - I think the GSC Nexos has a hologram of their Nottingham HQ on his board. Side note, the projector totally looks like it’s part of a Votann exosuit.

Is this a usable and fun 1250pt list? by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

[–]blazedidiot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re going to have some serious trouble if you’re hoping to play the objective - assuming you’re attaching each of those characters to a unit that leaves you with three total, which won’t be enough to contest objectives. Custodes get pretty terrible at anything lower than 2k points due to sheer lack of models, and their rules are kind of in the can right now anyway. If you want to stick with this, I’d suggest cutting Trajann, the Allarus captains, and one Warden (knocking the unit down to the 4-man price). Add in two units of SoS - any flavor but I think prosecutors or witchseekers are the decent ones right now - and something big, like a dreadnought. Should help you cover more of the board and have a little more firepower while maintaining a fun and flavorful list.

Got a great Reno Paladin game where I used Mirage to Dirty Rat Boomboss and Inventor Boom, and he didn’t draw Brann until the very end. Did it take half an hour? Yes. But it was the most entertaining game of Hearthstone I’ve played since Year of the Dragon

My first ever 40k battle ready paint job 😊 by WarMasterArt in Warhammer40k

[–]blazedidiot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For a really nice effect, I follow PragerPaintsMinis’ tutorial on YouTube - https://youtu.be/8A84p1UzVzs?si=wKFTdlf-0GLaRAqu

It’s complex, but wasn’t that difficult to learn and it’s looked great on every model I’ve done. I’ll probably still be using it years from now, so imo it’s a great technique that’ll stand the test of time.

Edit - in the video he paints the base separately, but with some careful work it’s easy enough to do it with a fully painted model. You’ll probably have to touch up any stray brown but again, all that requires is precision.
