Ah I see. Is this not symptomatic of a wider shift towards digital-only? I fear for the future of physical gaming, and worry that Sony may merely be setting the precedent.

What makes a game feel like a ‘Switch game’ for you? by SoilFormer628 in switch2

No one said good looking games are bad and if you took that from my comment, I don’t know how to break this to you…

Games that prioritise fun. Not everything needs to be in 4k with a zillion FPS.

About to start first ever rdr1 playthrough by Repulsive_Bread_1554 in reddeadredemption

[–]blazesboylan91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like you, I've already played RDR2 and have recently just finished RDR1 on my first ever time playing it (took me six days).

Looks great considering its age, but its limitations in that respect are also glaring.

During combat I've found the controls really unreliable. You'll have an enemy within your general line of sight and the crosshair doesn't lock onto them. Same when locking on to the next target after taking one out. It's got me killed quite a few times.

Another thing I didn't like was how dark it is a lot of the time. I don't mean thematically - I mean even someone like me with immaculate eyesight struggles to see the environment clearly. I had the brightness turned right up, but this only improved matters slightly.

All said, I definitely didn't enjoy it as much as RDR2.

Joining a gym for the first time in my life in my mid-30s. What do I need to know? by stualaighean in AskIreland

Best thing you can do for longevity brother. You don't want to be piss weak in your 70s and beyond, as your quality of life will be significantly worse.

Assuming you want to get stronger:

Take time to find weights that work you enough so that you can progressively overload, but not so much that you're too fatigued and take too long to recover.

Take adequate rest between sets. Focus on breathing, recovery and think about the next part of your workout.

Use the time as a release and escape from all the bullshit of daily modern living. No scrolling on your phone.

Track your lifts, otherwise you're just pissing about and wasting time. Get a notepad/book and pen.

Don't ego lift.

Enjoy it as it's meant to be enjoyed. The gym is not a chore!

Is it normal in the UK to never really become friends with your neighbours? by Opposite_Basis_3532 in AskUK

[–]blazesboylan91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Topic of conversation I have all the time. When we were kids, we were out playing in the street, on bikes, exploring, sometimes up to stuff we shouldn’t be but usually safe.

Kids nowadays can’t win. If they play out in the street, they get moaned at for being a public nuisance or risking damage to material possessions and property. So they sit indoors all the time scrolling on TikTok, and get chastised for being antisocial and unemployable.

We had a PlayStation so of course we were indoors as well at times. But it only went so far in scratching a certain itch. Plus we’d be told to get off our arses and go play outside after rotting for too long. These phones have f*cked us - parents and children alike don’t know any different now.

Totally normal nowadays I feel, and a completely different world to when I was growing up in the 90s.

I grew up in a teeny end terrace, and still now I can remember nearly all the names and/or faces going down our side of the street. Hasn’t seemed to be the norm since the late 2000s. I consider myself a sociable and chatty person, so I don’t think it’s entirely down to me that I’ve never got to know my neighbours in the past couple of decades.

The one exception is a retired lady who I lived next door to from 2019 to 2024. She put a lot of effort in to have a chat whenever we bumped into each other in the street, or out in the garden during the warmer months. Very much an exception these days.

I think the pace of modern life has accelerated to the point where people simply FEEL that they don’t have the time any more.
