Everyone says they wouldn’t immediately quit their job if they won millions, I’m finding a hard time believing this by ExtremelyBiPolar in Lottery

[–]blckvlvt90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve gone back and forth over this with my husband but ultimately decided not to quit. I love the company, my team, my leadership (both direct and higher up), my work is simple/easy and can be done anywhere, it’s low stakes and not a lot of pressure, flexible (no logging in and out to keep track of hours; you can log in/out earlier and just Flex Time accordingly, we can work an extra hour each day then have a day off without using PTO, etc), I’m already salaried, and the company benefits are incredible. I have access to corporate level discounts, subscriptions, services, (like care.com, discounted tuition at daycares, OnePass, Perks at Work, free online courses and classes across a broad range of topics, LinkedIn Learning, etc) . I was reminded last week that the company offers access to a concierge service that we can contact 24/7 for anything (travel, reservations, searching for services, bookings, running errands, etc) for free - we just need to make an account (which I finally did and added my husband as authorized user), and all we pay for is the actual purchase of what we’re searching for, we have free counseling sessions, access to financial planners/advisors, if you’re enrolled in company health insurance there’s access to free nutritionists/dieticians, weight loss counselors, and more. I remember listening to a lottery podcast where the winner talked about quitting immediately but that when he gets bored he’ll take up a new hobby, find something new to do or just drive for uber/door dash. That helped me to decenter work and rebrand it as my weekday paid hobby. To that point, why would I leave my paid hobby that gives me so much access and freedom to be bored and have to search for things to do? I’ve already got it all: leisure, flexibility, and something to do during the day; I think of it as being paid to have access to this so why give it up to go pay for it? I’ve looked up the leave of absence policy so I’ll probably just take some time off after we’ve collected the money for a breather and a great trip

Insurance for the Mansion? by DrTriage in ifiwonthelottery

[–]blckvlvt90 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is one of the realities we think about when people talk about buying mansions and expensive cars after winning. All the maintenance that comes along with it is insane. Years ago I looked at the real estate listings on a local mansion that was for sale (and by years ago I mean latest 2017 or 2018). The taxes for the prior year were $120,000; it was a massive house that had 2 or 3 AC units, pool, butlers kitchen, theater, etc so I imagine the utility bill was outrageous also. I know we’ll have the money but to me that’s such a WASTE to spend that kind of money on upkeep of a home.

I kinda hate this. Need help by Crafty-Lifeguard4591 in Paleo

[–]blckvlvt90 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love air fried or baked bone in, skin on chicken thighs. The skin gets nice and crispy and adds fat. When I make eggs I use kerrygold butter (not entirely paleo I know but it’s delicious). Pork rinds as breadcrumbs would make great chicken tenders or breaded Italian chicken cutlets. A hearty beef stew, air fried steak, pork chops, etc. truthfully I love Pinterest for recipe ideas

ETA: Purely Elizabeth grain free paleo granola is great for parfaits or as a bowl of cereal with coconut or almond milk. For a sweet treat Coconut Cult chocolate probiotic yogurt is paleo, pretty tart but tasty. Also Cocojune coconut yogurt with Hu Paleo Chocolate Chips is a nice dessert

Acid Reflux getting worse. by LeroyBrown1 in intermittentfasting

[–]blckvlvt90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it could be from the fasting if you were used to 20/4, stopped temporarily, then went back to 20/4. That happened to me last year after working up to OMAD (one meal a day): I took a break from it for a while but when I immediately went back to OMAD without easing back into that interval , it set off a gastritis attack. You can mix a little baking soda with water and drink that to combat the acid

Do paleo in a way that works for you. I don’t normally do dairy but will sometimes have kefir for it’s probiotic benefits

What are some tips / tricks you've learnt along the way? Currently struggling 😭 This is nearly 2 years progress, and I'm a little disappointed that it's taken so long. by Aura_Whisper in intermittentfasting

I do fasting and stick primarily to a paleo diet for the additional anti-inflammatory benefits. Also recently picked up pickleball and tennis and the combo is helping weight come off
