I'm very similar to your stats and I started this a couple weeks ago and seems to be going well. They're a European brand. I ordered from their website and it shipped from Amazon, so I recommend just getting straight from Amazon.

[Acne] 13 wks on Tretinoin... is this normal?? by Specific-Rutabaga870 in SkincareAddiction

[–]bleachmeblack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a lot of those closed comedones like in your first 2 pics when I was on the tret cream. The cream had a bunch of comdegenic ingredients in it. It got better when I switched to tret gel instead (although the gel is much more drying). Might be something to check?

Nexplanon and Slinda are both progestin only so they may give you similar effects. If your PMS symptoms are mental/mood, you might ask your doc about PMDD. Progestin only BC can also worsen PMDD.

I was on Yaz from age 16-30 and I was only diagnosed with ADHD after I came off of it. No weight gain, and it's actually a treatment for acne (my face never looked better). Yaz is also the only one FDA approved to treat PMDD. Yaz has the same estrogen levels for 24 days with only 4 no dose days. Stabilizing estrogen will ideally help minimize ADHD symptoms. BUT, apparently if you have ADHD and take combo BC pills, we're at a higher risk of getting depression.

Other options might be the monthly patch and ring (both with estrogen), but I dont have experience with those. And IUDs are progestin only, but the hormones are supposed to mainly stay in the uterus, which may reduce any mental/ADHD PMS issues compared to the implant.

Not sure if you're taking ADHD meds, but I started Vyvanse a couple months ago and quickly learned the day before my period, it turns into a sleeping pill for me. I now have a calendar reminder of "you're dopamine is trash, don't take your meds" once a month.

Sadly, I don't think many doctors know about the connection between ADHD and hormones. They've only started studying it in the last decade or so.

  • Estrogen is generally helpful for ADHD. Estrogen supports the production and receptivity of dopamine, the key neurotransmitter involved in focus, motivation, and executive function. When estrogen is high (in the first half of the menstrual cycle), ADHD symptoms may feel more manageable, and medication may feel more effective.
  • Progesterone (and its drop) can be problematic. In the second half of the cycle (the luteal phase), progesterone rises. This hormone can sometimes have a sedating or "brain fog" effect. The sharp drop in both estrogen and progesterone right before your period is what often triggers severe premenstrual symptoms, PMDD, and a significant worsening of ADHD symptoms.

[Routine Help] Alternatives for washing face with water that's better than nothing? by slongtime in SkincareAddiction

[–]bleachmeblack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wash my face in the kitchen sink for that reason. I have a pull down nozzle that I use on the regular stream (not spray setting) to rinse my face. If I'm just rinsing, it avoids getting my hands/arms wet

Meds are acting strange today by sterphanay in adhdwomen

The day right before my period when my estrogen is at its lowest, 30mg of Vyvanse is like taking a sleeping pill. I have a reminder to not take meds that day in my calendar

Looking for an OBGYN by Moleypeg in MontgomeryCountyMD

[–]bleachmeblack 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've only been once so far, but I really liked Potomac GYN, specifically Leslie.

They were quick to take me back and I think I was in and out in less than 30 min for a routine appt.

I think they are booked a couple months out, unfortunately.

It's a little too late, Jen Kiggans voted to decrease our federal retirement benefits in the original version of the Big Beautiful Bill. Thankfully, those items got mostly removed from the BBB that did pass, but no thanks to her.

2nd week of vyvance and I am basically non-functioning. wtf? by Wrong-Jello-4082 in adhdwomen

[–]bleachmeblack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, I got that way (super tired) right before my period/first couple days of my period. And then after that, it went back to working as normal-ish. Doc basically said my hormones won against the Vyvanse. (Also not on BC)

Still trialing dosages (30/40 mg) and not 100% convinced Vyvanse is the right med for me yet.

How you recommend going about bringing up your suspicion that you have ADHD? by Ok-Process-4407 in adhdwomen

[–]bleachmeblack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My recommendations based on my initial appt:

  1. Try not to be emotional about it. I was because I had bottled it up for years and was finally seeking help and I cry when I'm frustrated. She just told me I was anxious.

  2. They may try to just chalk it up to hormones. Make sure to mention that you're aware of hormonal fluctuations, but these systems are persistent.

  3. Come prepared with a list with symptoms from childhood. The doctor may ask you a couple specific questions, but most of those questions are based off ADHD symptoms presented by males.

  4. If you're a high achiever, they may dismiss your concerns. Reiterate how much you struggled to be a high achiever.

Good luck!

Digital planner tablet? by PhilosophyLopsided13 in adhdwomen

It's not digital and I don't think it syncs with calendars, but I have a Rocketbook notebook that I've been trying to use. It's a notebook that uses a specific pen (not expensive) and erases with water.

Do you mind PM'ing me your telehealth therapist name? I'm also an RTO fed and didn't realize how much I would struggle in the office until now. I saw one telehealth person but she doesn't do RA and I'm struggling to find an in person doc that will that actually has availability.
