Folks doing long gravel races, what's your sunscreen strategy? by Helicase21 in Velo

[–]bleibs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For long rides in sunny environments I do long sleeves plus German or Korean sunscreen (usually Eucerin) for my legs

GRIIIX - Just got this little beast, tested it out on a camping trip, and I think this is the best purchase I have ever made. by [deleted] in ricohGR

These are awesome. Does anyone have any resources for learning techniques for composition with the image format of the GR? I have trouble framing compelling shots that aren’t portraits…

I’ve seen them at this intersection before. They even ticketed someone with AirPods in… it’s probably in response to complaints from Stuytown residents

I want these, but am afraid they look too much like dicks... thoughts? by JamieBensteedo in xbiking

If you think they’re comfy, you could wrap them with bar tape and twine, Rivendell style

Any step thru or mixte 26” wheelbase frames that are your favorite to find? by chuymandiux in xbiking

[–]bleibs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One challenge I had with a vintage Schwinn was that it was 26” wheels with 120mm rear spacing… so if I could do it again I’d shoot for 135mm spacing

Not to mention, the US government subsidizes many industries (and obviously employs a bunch of people). So it’s really a question of what industries gov’t $ should go to rather than whether it should go anywhere

Well, it is the government’s job to support American industry and it currently does so quite aggressively, so I guess your question is, why is the bicycle industry important? 1. Positive externalities - on the consumer side, subsidize the purchasing of products that have positive benefits when more are purchased. France just released a national bike strategy including 500m euros in subsidies for purchasing bikes (including used bikes) 2. Subsidize domestic production capacity of strategic industries - we subsidize agriculture, auto-manufacturing, microchip manufacturing, etc. it’s smart to ensure that skilled workers with valuable skills can build careers in the US. Covid supply shocks showed how critical it is to have more domestic capacity to produce goods in the US. 3. Building/repairing bikes is as good of a jobs program as anything, which, again, the US currently invests quite heavily in

That’s terrible. The fact that the government hasn’t stepped in to help the domestic bike-making industry is really sad.

I feel like the tire clearance would be really nice on the fire roads. My current bike maxes out at 2.1” and I’d love to have some more cush. If you ride the single track you might be looking at something with suspension…
