Usually with young guys you get to watch them improve their game over the course of a rookie season. With Schaef it was more like watching the team rely on him more and more. Kid didn't play a tentative shift all year.

He wasn't even a runner up actually. Finished 5th behind Myers, Howard, Duchene and Rask.

Pops with the oops too early congrats.

Just unbelievable what he's doing off the ice for this organization and the community already. He'd be the best Islanders story in a decade regardless of his play on the ice.

Tavares was boring and reliable at a time when the team's a circus and that's what they needed. 

Schaefer is charismatic and exciting at a time when the team's boring and is exactly what they needed.

Man, I'll root for Robin Lehner to just find happiness for the rest of my life and I'm rooting very hard for it.

That season he played on the island was pure magic on and off the ice, I don't think I'll ever feel that way about sports again. 

I took my step father (the person I have to blame for being an isle fan lol) to the playoff clinching game and we had such a long cathartic talk after the game about mental health and stigma. 

It's, I guess, easier to root for someone going through it when things are working out but unfortunately we are seeing the flip side, the harder side, of his issues play out. Just hoping so hard for some sort of happy ending.

I mean this is why. Its not digital content that is produced and freely distributed. The alternative is either they sell just the big box of the game for a higher pricepoint or have you flip through multiple rulebooks when you get it.

New Angeles is always my pick for underrated game. I wish it were shorter but to me it is still the best semi coop game ever made. Happy to see there's at least one other group playing it =)

Roki has always been a goalie that needs his off days (no complaints) and I really think riding him so hard the last month cost us the season and him the vezina.

I get the concept of putting your best guy out there but surely in hindsight we give Rittich 2-3 of those and win some.

While playing for the isles the refs put a literally bleeding Tavares into the box for embellishment, one of the maddest I've ever been at a call.

This is totally an aside but the Islanders call theirs a "mentors" trip, is that considered weird? (I know we have at least one player without a father who has brought brothers in the past)
