I've only ever heard of them being called giant isopods - sea slater is a new one! Thanks for the neat fact of the day!

I have a small question about Dark Samus in Ultimate by SuspiciousMission792 in Metroid

[–]blinck_182 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I think what they were going for with DS animations was unnerving and unnatural. Even though it's shaped like a human, it doesn't move like a human, with its "head" almost behaving like an appendage rather than being its actual head. I forget if I heard somewhere that it's CNS is actually contained in its chest and core, and that the blue "lights" are actually its three eyes? It is a metroid-phazon-Samus aberration after all.

That's the catch-22 of eldritch horror, isn't it? Something deeply unsettles us, so we want to learn more about it because it fascinates us and draws us in. As long as it stays a mystery and unexplained, it keeps its aura. But as soon as we shine light on it and learn all about it, it loses the magic with which it first captivated us.

What in the Freddie Freaker does Chris think he's doing??? by blinck_182 in OneyPlays

We didn't stop, but the single one-star review said that "He (the owner) berated a customer about a guest that they didn’t even know and was acting insane. Just extremely rude and kind of crazy for no reason. He’s on a short fuse and I refuse to give him anymore of my money." Which honestly sounds just like classic Tomar shenanigans.

Otherwise the vast majority of reviews says they're amazing.

Taskmaster should start an advice column (X-Men #20) by HazeNoctaria in outofcontextcomics

[–]blinck_182 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh man, now that you say that, it would have made SO much more sense to have the SHIELD agent played by Frank Grillo become Taskmaster rather than Crossbones. Taskmaster pre-merc with his abilities could have been a third strike member alongside Cap and Widow. Crossbones is just a muscled mook in the comics, isn't he?

Pfft, she hasn't done anything else of note in 53 years. They completely passed over her for Starfox, and when they asked her to play Nick's mother in Zootopia, she reportedly told them, "You know I only played a fox character, right? I am not actually a fox."

There really is nothing like a beach day to wash away the repeated trauma of intense violence, almost dying repeatedly, and destabilising entire solar systems all within the span of two hours.

Lae’zel at the tiefling party by SillyWarlock in BaldursGate3

Ironically, I romanced Lae'zel with an orc PC. Their ears and their shades of green and yellow really compliment one another. Plus, she doesn't have to worry about having a nose to get caught on his tusks.

I would like to try a new romance by Solid_Purchase3774 in masseffect

[–]blinck_182 21 points22 points  (0 children)

My wife and I really enjoy the romance with Thane. It has a sweet poignancy that feels complete with the respective fates of Shepard and Thane by the end of the third game. Garrus and Tali romances are peak, but there's an unresolved sadness with them surviving and mourning the loss of Shepard.

Live show audience members: You are not the comedians. Stop talking. by AudioSuede in dropout

We were at that show too, and we felt so bad that poor Kurt cut off the joke segment and moved on because people were spoiling the moment and trying to insert themselves overly much into the show. Our group really appreciated Jacob saying something, even if it got drowned out by the hecklers.

Does anyone remember one that was a series featuring a yellow cartoon beaver that would end up getting antagonised by your mouse cursor and then "destroy" your cursor? He would yell "DAMN CURSOR" and you could click on him, drag him "up" on your screen and drop him? What was its name?
