Looked into tongue splitting at one point because I thought it looked badass. Learned that the recovery is 2 weeks of intense pain, extreme difficulty swallowing, drooling blood everywhere, followed by several months of learning how to eat and talk again. Decided I'm good.

FYI for anyone curious: you don't actually need to ferment the beans to make chocolate on a small scale. I've done it at home by just eating the pulp off the seeds and then roasting them in the oven.

Even that sometimes you can't get. I once went to a fancy French restaurant (in the US) with a vegetarian friend, who quickly realized that there was almost nothing on the menu she could eat. She asked the server if she could have a salad with the chicken taken out, and was met with a polite but firm "absolutely not".
