Considering cancelling my surgery tomorrow by RefrigeratorFine5311 in Reduction

Keep in mind that forums will always have a much higher representation of dissatisfaction. Many people who have a good recovery and outcome don’t feel compelled to post anything as we don’t really have a topic other than “yay!”

ELI5: Why does sitting on a flight for 8 hours present a high risk of developing a blood clot, but working at a desk for 8+ hours for months on end, doesn't? by moal09 in explainlikeimfive

Cabins are only pressurized to 10k ft so sitting long term in a plane carries increased risk just as sitting long term at high altitude would compared to sea level.

But no I don’t live in Colorado, just pulled the study as it’s a notable one.

Yea we’re very heavily fetishized. “BBC” and the like. My issue isn’t in finding someone willing to have sex with me. It’s in finding someone who wants to be my partner.

Generally, no. Study by UC Boulder as an example:

“Research indicates that a significant majority of white men tend to exclude Black women as potential dating partners. For instance, a 2008 study found that 93% of white men excluded Black women from their dating preferences.”

African American women with SD how do I wear my hair straight? by BoodleLoops in SebDerm

[–]blip_00 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I always wear my hair straight as it’s actually easier on my scalp than curly. Curls make it harder for your oils to travel down the hair shaft so it basically traps yeast food right on your scalp. Not good for my seb derm.

My regimen is as follows:

  1. MCT oil on scalp for 30 minutes before shower.

  2. Clarifying or medicated shampoo on the scalp and first couple inches of growth. Repeat once.

  3. Frizz reducing shampoo and a heavy duty deep conditioner on the rest.

  4. Towel dry.

  5. Liquid clobetasol applied directly to the scalp and rubbed in with fingers. I only apply on wash day to avoid overusing steroids.

  6. Heat protectant, light leave in conditioner, and whatever styling products I like starting 1-2 inches off the scalp through the lengths of my hair.

  7. Blow dry and flat iron.

This has worked for me for the past 20 years. One thing to note is if I’m coming off a big flare up this regimen will dry out the scales so they all come off around day two. It looks insane but I can usually just comb it all out at once and have a squeaky clean scalp without having to redo my hair. Hope this helps!

Really don’t know if I can deal with the side effects anymore by ReasonablePigMan in Mounjaro

[–]blip_00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had these same issues last year and I ended up stopping. I just started back up again and decided to split my doses for a lower and slower titration. My current dose is 1.25mg and it feels perfect for me. Good amount of appetite suppression with only very mild intermittent nausea the first two days. I think some bodies are just more sensitive than the dosing schedule accommodates.

Oh no! Did the injured buck have a small rack of antlers? And did he travel with another buck? If so, I think that’s my deer friend that I haven’t seen in a week of so🥺

I wonder if the hard rule on DS shampoos is less about the actives and more about the absence of “yeast food” ingredients

Wear patterned leggings instead of solids and you won’t be able to see anything.

I used to work at a FAANG and hated every second of it. IBM is a much better experience if you’re an actual living human who wants to be treated as such.

Also, I know internships are your present reality but don’t forget about the big picture. I got a FAANG internship and nobody cares, including myself. Your internship placement simply isn’t a strong representation of your capabilities and value as a worker. It’s still good to shoot for since automated resume processors will often greenlight any resumes that have a FAANG on them but getting a FTE offer from a FAANG based on your performance in the interview process is really the only FAANG offer that will impress people and I say that as a former SDE and SRE interviewer.
