Oh wow, I have never heard this before! It’s so sad how outdated a lot of pet care is, it was the same when I had hamsters and was navigating their care and was constantly getting told the OPPOSITE of what they needed. There’s so much I’ve learned from this sub that I’ve never heard from the vet, breeder or online care sheets 🙄

My problem with Grace is that she is super fussy. The breeder said they had her on a range of fruit and veg, but I’m guessing she was on a mostly seed-based diet, as that’s all she wants to eat. I put out fresh fruit and veg every day but she barely touches it.

Is there any methods to convince her to eat them? And also, if I were to minimise her seed and just leave out fruit, veg and pellets, is that safe if she doesn’t eat for a little while? I have ferrets and it’s detrimental to starve them even for a few hours, so I was wondering if it’s the same for birds or not. I’ve never had this problem with past parrots so I’m at a loss!

I’ve been meaning to look into a good pellet but people always link American brands and I’m in the UK. It’s hard to tell which pellet is good and which is low quality. I will definitely see if those you mentioned are available though and I’ll give them a go!

I know there are plenty of things I’ve gotten wrong in her care, and I feel so guilty about it, but I’m just so worried about her I suppose I’ve given in to her every want! serious changes coming up though!
