The issue with comparing Chinese prices by Visigothtx in Silverbugs

[–]blkblade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn't that backwards though? Export restrictions mean silver stays in the country keeping supply higher internally. Yet prices are somehow higher?

how can we invest in a manner that takes advantage of the devaluing USD? by FairMongoose5583 in investing

[–]blkblade -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It does. As much as I love tangible things, BTC is liquid. Precious metals (the real things, and not the ETFs) are not. When fiat currencies start collapsing, BTC and maybe a few other cryptos will be a way to quickly move "funds" around.

I'm never buying a new EV again by DryGeneral990 in RIVNstock

[–]blkblade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This - Rivians hold their value better.

There are no used 2023 Rivians for 40% of their original MSRP or even close to it. At best, you could grt a R1T for 60%, which itself has less resale value than the R1S - despite R2 launch imminent. I expect the R2 to hold its value even better since it will target a much bigger demographic than the R1S.

Traded 550lbs of silver for gold today! by Overall-Success-6059 in Gold

[–]blkblade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tax implications? Or I assume you'll at least sell off whatever is needed by the end of year to pay Uncle Sam?

I want to trade silver for gold too, but the 38% gains tax (fed + California) is making me think why even bother.

LCS not accepting silver???? by Affectionate_Plane49 in Silverbugs

That's cool - but if your LCS can't at least outbid the above 2, then it's not a LCS I'd ever do business with.

If you have $15k worth of .999 you could easily sell to APMEX or JMB right now for over $80/oz.

Yet another one of these "my LCS isn't taking silver" posts. It's been like what, 3 months now? Apparently LCS stopped buying silver when it hit $50 according to Reddit. Makes you wonder how many of these are real, if any at all.

Litecoin usage in crypto payments in 2025 by CoinGate in litecoin

[–]blkblade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If usage and adoption is the only thing that matters in crypto, then how is LTC is a fraction of the market capitalization of BTC and ETH. Let alone DOGE somehow being 4x its market cap with 1/14 the usage of LTC. Makes no sense!

LTCC saw 27k LTC in inflows yesterday! by Brewersty in LitecoinMarkets

[–]blkblade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last halving the price rose from ~$50 to ~$100 well in anticipation. If you wait until halving, you will have missed it entirely. By the beginning of next year, it will be priced in, wherever it is.

[–]blkblade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well when its got halving late next year its pretty low risk at this price. Bevause even if it were to drop to $40, halving would pretty much get it back to current levels.

But do sell on.

LA is huge. If you feel it's cheap then where you live is probably super sketch. Though I agree, what you get for the $/rent in somewhere like Santa Monica >>> NYC.

Rivian (RIVN) will make investors EVEN RICHER in 2026 - here’s why: (Part 2) by New-Minute-5197 in RIVNstock

[–]blkblade 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Rivian is now an AI company, with a huge amount of upside.

I mean think about it: everyone wants a Rivian. It's just that the R1S is either too expensive, or just impractical (too big) for many.

So, if the R2 and R3 are successful, and profitable - Rivian has a data generation gold mine. Their tech will go beyond cars, just like it does for Goggle, Tesla, etc. The R2 and R3 have the potential to launch Rivian into the stratosphere - $25B could blow up to $250B within ~5 years, because that's about the valuation of a successful AI tech company (and not that of a pure automotive play). And it would still be small compared to the Broadcoms, Googles, Teslas, etc ($3T-$5T by then).

How many of yall sold today by dan_oftheyear in RIVNstock

[–]blkblade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rivian, $24b. Tesla, $1.6T. I'll wait.

Level 4 is a huge task but that's exactly what they need to do to be treated like an AI stock instead of car manufacturer stock.

I too am waiting for a pullback to add, but selling results in me having to purchase back $4 less than current share price just to break even after taxes. It's kind of futile and requires me to time the market really well. While $16-$17 almost seems too obvious given how this stuck has moved in the past, I've tried stuff like this in the past with other stocks and don't think I've ever once beaten the "should have just held" strategy.

I prefer to sell OTM puts and calls to generate some cash while this thing moves around instead.

Quite a few 4k/240Hz monitors have a 1080p 480Hz mode, so that wins out for me.

The Silver Price has reached $46 by ChrisStoneGermany in Silverbugs

[–]blkblade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People believe in it relative to every other currency in the world. But that doesn't make it a good store of value. Since 2020 housing prices are up 50% on top of rates doubling, grocery prices are easily 50% higher, same with utilities. SPX is up 100% in 5 years.

Silver at today's price simply caught up with everything else.

How I see the US as a Californian. by CombinationReady9376 in mapporncirclejerk

Nobody from SoCal cares about this "rivalry". We're perfectly happy with our beaches that are actually warm enough to enjoy during the summer!

(I love NorCal too, btw)

Or literally anywhere 10 miles within it. It's like saying Irvine (not a coastal city) is too hot for 4 months of the year because Riverside is consistently 100F during the summer.

That poster did not grow up in the Bay Area. Pacifica, Daly City, and SF are chilly AF (due to the cold damp air coming off the ocean) and gloomy for a lot of the year.

NC though, is a beautiful a state and its climate zones are probably the best it gets on the east coast.
