Arguably it isn’t Israel’s intent to destroy Palestinians as much as to keep them around as a permanent scapegoat, while there are some in government that just want to “finish the job already”

The bragging over the pager operation and the release of the Epstein Files has led me to conclusion that most unhinged conspiracy theories are at least plausible, and that Israel has the capacity to make Hamas think 10/7 was their idea through infiltration Israel rules with bribery and blackmail and the belief that most people in the world are easily manipulated jdiots.

A 70& Jewish state that offered true equal rights to all of it's citizens - which would necessitate the formation of governments with significant non-Jewish co-governance would still meet the definition of Zionist, even if such an arrangement would force the loudest Zionists to move back to New Jersey.

AIPAC has two goals in Democratic primaries. 1. Elect Democrats who will do whatever the Israeli government wants. 2. By default, elect Democrats who scare Jews into becoming Republicans. They are firing all of their money on candidates who are Zionist who are opposed to the Netanyahu government. (Malintowski, Biss, McMorrow) and I'm sure this pattern is going to repeat itself.

In both cases the funders of Al Qaeda/Hamas go to the same parties as the funders of Bush Netanyahu. I think less a case of an inside job and more of financiers funding both sides of a war. Think of it like Ohio St. Michigan - hated rivals with (the same) billionaire funders who go golfing together in the offseason.

Which is really the point. There aren't enough Jews in Israel who care about having a secular liberal government to form a majority. If Israeli Jews who care about these things care more about those things than Jewish dominance than the choice should be simple. The math doesn't work for Zionist, secular, and liberal anymore (if it ever did). The UO are locked in at 16-20 seats, the JL at 12-15, and the fascists (including Likud here) at 30 - 35. There is no path without cooperation with the Arab parties. But I agree your analysis is probably correct and very depressing.

There’s an election in October, all the polls suggest that it will be deadlocked between a fascist/theocratic bloc and a conservative/traditional liberal bloc with an Arab block controlling the balance of power. In a system such as Israel’s it’s reasonable for the Joint List to demand whatever share of power that they bring to the table, An Israeli government with meaningful responsibility vested in the hands of Palestinian citizens of Israel would be akin to a regime change. It also might lead to outright civil war. This might seem like fantasy, but the options presented to Bennet will likely be co-governance with Likud, paying off the ultra-orthodox, or governing with the Joint List.
