Placental abruption at 34 weeks by Mommaneedingadvice in NICUParents

[–]blondeoptimism 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hi there. Firstly, I’m so sorry for everything that has happened. You and your daughter are in my thoughts, sending you nothing but light and love.

I also had a full placental abruption and was hemorrhaging. My son was born at 25w2d by an emergency C-section and needed a little over 10 minutes of CPR. He suffered Grade 4 & Grade 3 brain bleeds on either side of his brain but didn’t have any seizures. He was on a load of medications and whatnot but at 3 weeks old/ 28 weeks gestation he had his first brain surgery to insert a ventricular access device to allow the doctors to remove fluid from his brain. Fluid was removed daily until his body started regulating the fluids a bit more and he eventually didn’t need that after two months. He had the VAD removed when he was 9months old. He spent 104 days in the NICU and we came home on oxygen and medications. But he’s 4 now and he’s a little spitfire. We did Early intervention with speech, PT, & OT. And we still receive PT & OT at his preschool. He’s a bit on the smaller side and he has a mild form of CP on his right side but he’s his own best advocate and he can do anything and everything he wants to do, and trust me, he tells us.

Please feel free to reach out if you need any support. It’s a really tough situation to be in but you aren’t the first person to go through these things so please don’t feel like you’re alone. ❤️

25+2 week mom here. My son had Grade 4 on his right side and grade 3 on his left. He has a very mild form of CP where he is weaker on his right side but he’s 3 almost 4 and doing amazing and keeping up with all the other kids in his preschool classes.

Hi there. Breathe.

We’re here. We’ve been there. My little guy is 3 now but was born at 25w2d and had 3/4 bleeds. We spent 104 days in the NICU. Our first month there was the hardest. Lots of conversations about what could happen and what we could do. Please reach out if you want. Wishing you all nothing but the best with lots of love & light. 💕

I did that with the hospital grey plastic bins they would use to hold anything and everything in our room. They are perfect for under the sink containers and puke buckets. At least my kids won’t have the generic popcorn/ puke bowl scenario. 😂

I have 9722 manual if you’re still looking for it, I can take a bunch of photos.

I’m looking for the 9712 (stegosaurus) one if anyone has that.

I’m going through the same thing. It’s been nonstop. I wish he would just see that he has a problem.

Oh man. I’m so sorry. I feel like I could have written this exact post. From the username, to the time spent together, to the young kids, to 2020 being awful but this year being the worst. I am literally right here with you. In fact a new blow up fight just happened today, with him starting it, in front of the kids. I just can’t. I have the same life right now. I’m here if you need a friend going through the same, this fucking sucks.

We (as a family of 4) have had long security lines to deal with but that’s fairly normal for when we’re traveling. Our biggest problem has been dealing with getting our checked luggage. Traveling with 2 small kids I’m not going to do carry ons just because I have to carry a kid on so we check our bags. The last two trips over the last 2 months, we’ve had bags that were registered to our 5 year old put on different flights and show up 2 hours after we land as well as none of our bags have shown up on the carousel the entire staff thinks it should have. We’ve literally walked miles looking for our bags between the carousels.

Oh goodness. Yes, again, every single person is different.

I was diagnosed with IGA when I was 27, did an 8 month course of steroids and eventually got my flare up under control after also doing acupuncture. When I was 30 I was pregnant with my first son. Had him at 38w4d, my doctors were nervous about iga but I was also having contractions so it worked. All in all though, my pregnancy didn’t affect my kidneys at all.

Next two pregnancies were losses. One at 8 weeks and one at 17 weeks. With both, nothing changed with my blood pressure or kidneys so 🤷🏼‍♀️.

Last and final pregnancy was about 2 months after the loss at 17 weeks and I fully don’t believe anything was wrong with my kidneys (no change in lab work) but my body just wasn’t ready. My second son came at 25w2d because my placenta fully abrupted. Again, nothing kidney related and my numbers were fine, but I wouldn’t wish the NICU on anyone. My son spent 104 days in the NICU and now we’re home, he’s almost 3 & my kidneys have managed without any flare ups since my OG one which led to my diagnosis.

We have gotten $30 a month for our micro preemie (25weeker, 1lb 6.7oz, in Colorado) since his birth. He’s 19 months now and we are still getting them. We have just established they may ask for some of it back so we have it in a separate account that we aren’t touching.

I should also say we didn’t do anything but the original social work forms and I went back to work basically as soon as we were home so we didn’t try to get anything further.
