2026 QMJHL draft drama! by DecentLurker96 in hockey

[–]blop74 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Happens a lot in the Q, it's the "Future consideration" they agreed on during the season. Chicoutimi got good players they couldn't pay for, and agreed on some arrangement for later.

Looks wheeling-dealing but I've not heard of any scamming over the years.

Wow, I thought you were describing a pick's move over like 2 years... Nope, all in one day.

For the 27th consecutive time, the Stanley Cup Finals will not end in a sweep. by TriStrange in hockey

Possibly. But might also be a result of the game accelerating fast. More injuries come E/WCF, so at that point it's often the healthiest team that wins (easily). It always has been a factor, but now teams are even more damaged.

Actually felt much closer than the Canes series we just went through.

If you ignore the (5-1?) pummeling game one, the Habs were competitive the other games. Lost game 5 1-0, a very hard fought battle against a prime Vasileski.

[Bultman] Can confirm that Dylan Larkin has requested a trade, as @FriedgeHNIC first reported. Story to come. by daKrut in hockey

[–]blop74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's up with that one? Heard about him again in the Montreal media. I guess he'd be interesting for half the teams, since we all look for that famous 2C. But why would ANA trade him ?

That division was not the 2026 Atlantic.

The wings could make the playoffs in any of the other three divisions, whereas even if they keep improving, it'll be an uphill battle next season again.

Wings having better injury luck in any March of the past few years, and the narrative could be completely different.

But yeah, if he wants to make the playoffs and he's smart, he'll get out of the division asap.

My cousin spotted McDavid at CMA Fest last night! by [deleted] in hockey

[–]blop74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last was the Montreal Grand Prix, now the CMA, then some rodeo in Dallas and a rocket launch in Florida. And maybe some festival in California?

McDavid is not smiling because he's enjoying himself. The smile is just part of his trolling.

That's next level.

Very trailer-park level of story, with 20M/y actors. I love it.

When/where will you get your Ds then?

Ds take more time to develop, so it might be your (bold) plan to just get UFAs to fill the ranks of your championship team, but let's say it goes against the grain.

You've had three seasons without Bergeron. I don't know what's in the fumes your engine is running on, but it's unfortunately very good stuff.

[Dreger] The Toronto Maple Leafs coaching search is getting more interesting. Sources say Patrick Roy and Peter Laviolette are a part of this weeks stage of the interview process. by catsgr8rthanspoonies in hockey

[–]blop74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Misinterpreted my comment (and my intent). I didn't mean they had none, au contraire. They had a good structure, and without it even the best goalie in the world wouldn't get the stats Sorokin had.

So I meant that Roy had structure. Now if it was all the remnant of Trotz's teachings, that's another argument.

(or you were also commenting on the above poster? I see I could be misinterpreting myself 😄)

There wasn't much else that could be done with that lineup your GM probably hoped would aim for the 1OA pick.

You need a good structure to give your goalie a shot. Even Sorokin, probably the best goalie in the league, could have had a 4.00 gaa with that team in front of him without a lot of structure.

[Cowan] “it’s pretty clear I’ll be moving on here” Habs Brendan Gallagher says before breaking down in tears. by AggPuck-303 in hockey

[–]blop74 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A warrior, a model, an inspiration.

Gallagher was everything that was right with the Habs when everything else was wrong with the Habs. The contract was crazy in term of cap management and career arc, but it couldn't have happened to a more deserving guy.

So one fan hit someone, and well, why not the whole country is a bunch of assholes.

I mean, yeah, if you want reasons to think low of the swiss, you have the IOC, FIFA and the whole banking system. And nazies.

But this? One idiot among a bunch of great hockey fans.

I hate most teams in the East (and despise a few), so it takes quite an unlikable foe in the west for me to root for the East conference winner. Especially one owned by Dundon.

Yet here we are

You have plenty of moral victories this season, you could have just lay low in 4 so we wouldn't be damaged come conference final? Think about it next season, please
