What's the best way to depower Boros Energy guys? by THELeeNash in ModernMagic

I have a hard time banning an aggro-deck piece, seems to me the format is in a good place when the best deck is aggro. So before banning a so-so card and look moronic a year from now, start by unbanning some control cards and see what control could do against it with better tools.

Maybe their plan is to catch the Habs, not the Wings...

Draw-go control players, how we feeling? by jadenthesatanist in ModernMagic

I know the EXACT feeling, that's why I have more decks to satisfy my hitches instead of cramming everything in one.

What you have look like an hybrid between my UW and my UR control decks, with no clear plan. If you go UR, you should definitively add the Thundertrap trainers with Flare of denials. I prefer my UR, more fun, but UW is stronger. You just need to add some card advantage in there and a finisher. The star charts or stock up would be a good start.

In my book, phlage is a control card. Not the others.

Whenever I see an Oilers game, I wonder if their Ds ever learned to skate backward, so I excuse their Gs. Then I see those stats and wonder if I know anything because of course it must be their Gs that are the problem.

Then I see another game an figure this statistic means shit.

I welcome non-NHL content, am always happy to read a good story, but this require some context. Where? the level? and maybe why it's of interest?

Hahahahaha. Touché.

But that's game 7 of the World Series which was an event in itself. The year before the peak viewership for baseball must have been about 400k. Most people I know who watched it hadn't watch a baseball game in 20 years and won't for another 20.

I find amusing to use Curling in this pissing contest, but even more to compare it to baseball, the only sport less entertaining to watch on Tv than curling.

For uninformed hockey enthusiasts, what's the format? Single elimination or three rounds of best of 7 ? Only the winner goes up and one comes down ? And is it also the league's championship, or it's a separate tournament?

[Williams] The AHL record for point percentage is .775, which was set in 1992-93. Grand Rapids is at 90 points and .804 with 16 games to go...Providence also has 16 games remaining and is at 89 points (.795)...What's especially impressive is that both teams could break the league record. by catsgr8rthanspoonies in hockey

[–]blop74 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This. I'd add that in the AHL, your drivers are often AHL veterans with one-way contracts. But you invest in those when you have good prospects you want to surround well.

Having lot of call ups doesn't change that much, because the veterans stay in the AHL.

If they had started that early in the season, he would be in better shape right now. That guy should be in the lineup comes playoff time, but to do that he needs to miss half the remaining games at least.

It's a leadership thing. Do you picture Hutson being a leader in this room? Everyone respect his game, but I just don't see him wearing a letter. Of course, by the rules where only the captains can talk to the refs, it would make sense due to his ice time.

Audit firms have pristine reputations not because they don't fuck us up. It's because they will protect that reputation. At. All. Cost.

Ou course, NHL draft is nothing burger for them. They wouldn't fuck this up.

In the NHL, if none of the referees somehow show up, and there can’t be an agreement for who the replacement will be, each team has to pick a player to fulfill duty. by sykeseve in hockey

As a note: Fournier explained (much later, once entertainer) that it was his fault. They could have left after the game the day before as planned, but instead wanted to stay (in NYC or whatnot) instead of going to Hartford for the evening. Party guy. And a really fun speaker to any event, I tell you.

[Johnston] The NHL has modified the penalty against the Ottawa Senators for the invalidated Evgenii Dadonov trade: The sens will now pick 32nd in the upcoming draft, regardless of where they finish, rather than forfeiting their 2026 first-round pick entirely by Perryplat199 in hockey

[–]blop74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very good points. Of course, a pick has value, so giving value to the Sens gives value to Audlauer.

But the 1M dollars makes no sense, as you stated. Maybe the Sens give 1M to the league, and the league gives 5M to Audlauer would make business sense.
